Is there room on this site for a new feature?

I understand that people visit and post here for a range of reasons, and this sort of content won't be to everyone's taste.

I came up with a couple of cryptic clues whilst stuck on a train, and thought they may appeal to some, as I don't believe there is anything similar on the site.

Nothing too serious, just a little puzzle that may provide distraction or amusement, if only in terms of a quick glance by those interested in wordplay or puzzles, but I don't want to litter the Forum with unwanted content.


Would you like to see another, to test the waters? I could provide a clue as well, if requested.

Would you welcome one being posted on a regular weekly basis? More frequently during the 'off season'?

I'm no good at puzzles, but I do like them. It's a fun idea for a regular thread. I'm sure others could come up with some good puzzlers too.

Sure, go for it! I do cryptic puzzles, and learning how the puzzle-makers think is part of the process,
so a one-off wouldn't even be fair, if you know what I mean; and not knowing your approach
was a big part of what made that first one so difficult. So: Yeah, carry on!

Yes please! I'm a fan of cryptic puzzles and if they involve the Stones, then all the better. But as sssoul says, familiarity with the setter's way of thinking is part of the key to unlocking the answers. So let's hope you're prepared to get busy with keeping our brains ticking over

I've just posted another one – answer to be revealed on Friday, to give anyone who's interested a chance to contribute.

I may consider giving a further clue at some point before revealing the answer if no-one appears to be on track.

I'll try and vary them a bit and some will probably be more cryptic than others. Many will include literary references. People have different approaches to coming up with clues and mine may be 'hit and miss', but if one doesn't appeal, the following one might.

The line or phrase can come from any song released by the Stones, including covers and those released on complilations, album re-releases, etc.
