Love this image. It captures that bohemian mysticism that informed Dylan's mid-60s lyrics and sent just about the whole music world seeking different avenues of approach to writing.
that cool shot was taken by Peter Shillingford (may 11th 1968)
and it appears to be reversed

Is that Hendrix though? Might be staged; the guitar head is supposed to say Hendrix, but the stance IMO doesn't look like Hendrix; more like 60's Clapton.
I was thinking the exact same thing, he does look like Clapton.
This one gets my vote -- it really captures a moment of a performance (as opposed to some of the posed photos).
The Mick Rock photo posted by Silver Dagger is a close runner-up imo. I give Iggy the edge because it was spontaneous -- surely the Bowie/Ronson thing was part of their act right?
But that wouldnt make any sense. Of course its Hendrix.

Of course it is Hendrix, he's playing left handed.
What I like about that Jagger pic, is that you can make out the 'hardware' in detail. E.g. I never thought that those jumpsuits were made of such thick, comfortable- looking velour type; and you can also see the glitter up close.

Clapton never played Strats at that time (and you can clearly see on the guitar headstock shadow that it's a Stratocaster). The picture might be staged with some lesser known guy, but certainly not Clapton.
