Un-rock and roll things you currently love

RiRi/Calvin Harris

another Calvin Harris, my current favorite pop artist right now. He's an example of how electronic/dj music can be creative and soulful.

Kendrick Lamar, an example of when hip hop is funky and raw. (and I love the Isleys groove..)

Lyle Lovett and his Large (not big) Band...
Especially outdoors in the summer.. preferably with Francine Reed.

Been taking my daughter every summer since she was one.. love the tradition.

Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens, Bright copper kettles and warm woollen mittens, Brown paper packages tied up with strings, Cream colored ponies and crisp apple strudels, Doorbells and sleigh bells and schnitzel with noodles, Wild geese that fly with the moon on their wings, Girls in white dresses with blue satin sashes, Snowflakes that stay on my nose and eyelashes, Silver white winters that melt into springs. These are a few of my favorite un rock and roll things

You had to look up the lyrics first, right?
And that's actually an awesome song!

That's actually one of the most un-rock and roll things I really do love: Broadway tunes.

Ready with a handshake

Oh, you're trying to find out our guilty pleasures (music-wise!)!!! winking smiley

I'd say Adam Ant in general, except he had that whole 1970s period with stuff like 'Physical (You're So)' and 'Kings Of The Wild Frontier', but then there's is 'commercial' period...Feel free to refer to 'Strip' and 'Room At The Top,' but thank God he's going back to his punk/rock roots with 'Shrink'!

EDIT: Add Charlie Watts's solo material to my Too-Long-To-Post list!

Bluegrass. Hot steel guitar players (any genre). Flatt and Scruggs. This Boyz II Men tune in 5.1 surround cranked up and sitting in the sweet spot.

This might be some of the most amazing music I ever stumbled across. I listen to the whole thing a few times a week, always catch new things. I would love to see this in person sometime.

Les Miz...
Ill be honest, I'm old school when it comes to showtunes..
I mean, like pre-65....so when my nieces are singing all these Les Miz, Wicked tunes, I feel like an old fart.

ditto with musicals
I have actually grown up performing semi-professionally and I mostly do music theatre, as well as some Motown (which is another non-rock genre i love)
Some of my favourite songs to sing were "Why do the wrong people travel?" by Noel Coward and "Don't Rain On My Parade" from Funny Girl

I recently love baking. Mostly wholegrain pizza and crumble pie. I own this trusted apparatus which makes it easy fun.

I like musicals too. My favorite is Fiddler on the Roof.

My first love. I literally grew up watching those old Rodgers and Hammerstein etc...musicals on the late show...Carousel, Oklahoma, Calamity Jane, South Pacific, West Side Story - they were epic for me a kid...Fiddler on the Roof holds a special place because I can remember seeing it at the theater as a kid, and then going to watch my older cousin in her high school class rendition.
That, and Cabaret, are the last great musicals for me.
There was a magic to those films. The world, audiences..may be too cynical for that now. But my 15-23 age nieces and cousins love them, so not all is lost.
