Gibson LP Junior Sunburst Question
Posted by: MadMax ()

Hello fellow IORRians!!!

Anybody know on which tune Keith used his Sunburst Junior when playing San Diego? There's a picture of him using it but I couldn't find out on what song even after going through the available film clips.

All due respect with ssoul smileys with beer, Gibson LP Junior, not his Fender 1967 Telecaster.

It's strange, I thought he might've used it on IORR (Like in 1994-95) or Sympathy but those clips show him with the TV finished one....

WOW!!! Does it mean he removed the 6th string?? It's an open G song. Crazy, he converts all my favourite guitars to 5string ones these Days!!! (In 2005 it was the Black Telecaster Custom).

Thanx for the Discovery ssoul!!!!!!!!!!!!!!smileys with beer

It really made it for Keith. His riffing on CYHMK had way more grit with the Sunburst than with the Tele, imo.

So when playing in open on a Tele he robes one string. Did he remove a string on the junior for open g?

Go Dawgs!

Indeed. thumbs up The switch was a nice choice, I think you noticed it right away! I wonder if Pierre or someone else suggested it or he came up with the idea on his own?

Fail, tried to upload some pictures , didn't work.
But anyway, the sunburst junior is indeed in open g 5 string now. It has been a while since keith played that guitar onstage

Keef should get himself a green guitar. Has he ever played one?

Keith's Tele during his set in Columbus looked green.

The one from the backstage pic? For which song was it used?

Happy. First time ever with capo on the third fret, if memory serves...

Thanks. More turquoise than outright green, but what I had in mind. It fits him very well.

Interesting - to me it looked sort of slate-coloured in the backstage shot
Anyway it's in its rightful place in the Telecaster thread now: [www.iorr.org]

That shot's from August 1st 1994 by Matthew Mendelssohn, courtesy of me.
The photographer credits that mean so much to me are right there in the title I gave the photo -
it's a sorry-making mystery that it's so hard for folks to add them when they re-post.
Photographers deserve credit. It's their work.

Edit: Ok ok, sorry for the outburst. But ...photographers deserve credit nonetheless, dammit!
It's their work.

I agree the photographers should get the credit they deserve, my apologies. I didn't get the photo from the iorr thread and it wasn't obvious who the photographer was.

So many photos on the internet these days don't include proper credits and are recopied many times over as such. It's not right but the sorry-making mystery is not much of a mystery, really.

Where did you get it from, then? The url is to my photobucket account.
The url itself includes the date and the photographer's name.
For future reference, that's how I label photos, so re-posters have the details.

I got it here:

I guess this page got it from your account. I wasn't aware of the credits included in the URL, not the place I'd normally look for them. I now notice you do that but is that a common practice?

Sorry if I sounded accusatory, Naturalust - I was just puzzled and a bit taken aback.
I don't know if it's common practice to put photo credits in the url, but I hope it's getting more widespread,
because it's an easy way to preserve information that otherwise gets lost way too easily.
Anyway, back to the guitars.

No worries, I agree it's a great idea and I respect your making the effort to do so and reminding us of the importance of including such credits.
