OT : Mayweather vs Pacquiao
Posted by: ChefGuevara ()

After seeing the prices for a seat in Las Vegas for this fight,
I will never complaint about Stones tickets again.
They are calling it the biggest fight in the history of boxing.

Most people want to see Mayweather lose his undefeated record.
Not sure Pacquiao will be the one to do it, but lucky for Mayweather
that his era did not have Leonard, Hagler, Hearns and Duran.
Fight is on on Saturday.

If you can wait about 3 more months, Brian Williams will be reporting that
he (Brian Williams) won the fight.

I don't know who 'they' are, but my vote goes to Cassius Clay - Joe Frasier

"Cassius Clay" never fought Joe Frazier.

Biggest fight in dollars and hype. Don't expect Ali vs Frazier,
Hagler vs Hearns or Duran vs Sugar Ray. Not in the same category.

supposedly only 500 tickets went on sale to the general public. They sold out under a minute. The rest of the tickets went to the VIP's and high rollers.

It's in the same class....... the fun is that they are both on top and never fight which each other

Mayweather 47 wins and 0 lost (26 KO)
Pacquiao 57 wins (KO 38) + lost 5 (KO 3) + drawn 2

So this will be fun to watch.......

Not sure they are both on top. 36 and 38 is not young for a boxer.
Pacquiao hasn't knock anyone out in a while and Mayweather is getting hit more often. It will still be a very interesting fight due to the clash of styles.
Pacquiao's aggressiveness will be the best guarantee that it won't be a boring fight. But yes, 5 years ago it would have been a better fight.

I called my local sports bar/restaurant about reserving a table just to watch it on their TV while we ate dinner and enjoyed watching it with a crowd. It was $40 each just to sit at a table, excluding dinner or drinks. Forget that.

My local place is only charging $15 each or $25 for a couple. Been a long time since I've done the PPV thing for a fight or anything else, but might go check this out if my wife gets off work early enough.

I wonder if any of the Stones will be there as they will maybe be in that part of the world very soon.

Neanderthal brawl perpetrated by cavemen.
Should be banned.

I will ban bullfighting first.

Boxing is a way out of poverty for most.
Efforts should go into protecting the fighters
and stopping those fights earlier at signs of
unnecesary punishment.

Yeah.
mano-v-mano!

Unlike the mano-v-WOMANo Mayweather has been convicted/charged with multiple times.

Boycot the neanderthal.

If this is the biggest fight it will only be money wise because things have changed. None of this stuff matters unless you adjust for inflation just like concerts. Plus back when Ali/Frazier fought you couldn't bring it to everyone's house unless you wanted to put it on NBC or something.

In terms of big fights in boxing importance terms this isn't even close to the biggest fight ever and is way down the list.

Pacquiao has lose 5 times and only a couple of years ago he was knocked out brutally, and Mayweather is old.

Have ben watching boxing since the 60s and the two fights that are at the top in boxing significance was Ali/Frazier 1 and Duran/Leonard 1.

I don't think Mayweather will be dancing too much on this fight.
Trying to avoid getting hit, yes, as always.

Pacquiao is very aggressive and throws a lot of punches, so Mayweather
will be looking to make him miss and counter and make him pay.

I think it will be a calculated effort by Mayweather to just land a slightly
bigger percentage of punches per round.

In this case, the clash of styles will make it interesting.

The thing is Duran vs Leonard 2 is not the right fight.
The first one is the classic. Both in amazing shape,
both fast and aggressive.

Do you know why the game ended ? looks like Duran was fed up that Leonard hit him when he was not in the game.........
