Mick has frequently expressed his disdain for nostalgia but who, other than Mick, really knows ?

As we all know July 12, 2012 is the official recognized 50th anniversary of the Rolling Stones. Some fans (not me) are already beginning to speculate that Mick is going to snub the Stones in 2012 for a new so called "Super Group" that he has reported to be involved with. Do you think Mick would be that foolish (or that hurt as some have suggested) to turn his back on the Stones while they are on the threshold of their 50th anniversary?

If the Stones are inactive, what's he meant to do? Twiddle his thumbs for years on end?

Well, he could father more children. Lots of time for flings.

Mick's 'Date with Destiny' was bumping into Keith with a bunch of blues albums under his arm. That date with destiny created an amazing musical history.
Playing a gig 50 years later is just celebrating.

I don't think Mick really cares about the OFFICIAL date (July 12, August 18, December 31, wherever), he thinks about the current status of the members, health, desire, financial... and obviously, the Stones are not a priority for him by now.
2012 is a year ahead in time, many things can happen in between, and if the Stones' played their last gig in 2007, well, I don't think Mick really cares about it either.

Another 'will they tour' thread under a new name?
What's the fuss all about? The 'Superheavy' thing has been a pet project thats been going on for a couple of years on and off. Its pretty much (or completely) finished. It'll be out later in the year and it's a pretty safe bet he wont tour behind it. He's also been involved in working on the 'Some Girls' reissue (according to a recent interview with Keith)
I seem to remember him making his last solo record in 2004. He still managed to start work on a new Stones record later that year, finish it and tour with them in 2005. If the Stones are inactive, what's he meant to do? Twiddle his thumbs for years on end?

If it happens, very probably a big celebration...but it is in no way a date with destiny.

My 80-year-old mother, at the retirement home she lives at, gets hit on regularly by men as old as 95. These are guys with tubes up their noses, dragging oxygen tanks around with them, talking about what they are still able to do as long as they take a viagra. Sex never stops, apparently. Not until you're dead.
