I think the picture was published in Keith's Life book. That leash cracks me up every time. Probably be considered child abuse these days in America. peace

No, the leashes made a comeback in the 2000s. There's a day care center down the street, and when they take the youngin's for a walk around the block they have them strapped to a group leash with a rope running down the middle--they learn to "tow the line" really early in life these days.

I could have used one of those leashes with my son, especially. Yes, the pic is in Keith's book. Gotta love those chubby cheeks and that scowl, so cute.

Yup.

I finally received a pile of Stones memorabilia recently, stuff I'd collected in the 1960s through 1980s that was sent on to me from the UK. While sorting it out I found a picture of a chubby baby Keith which I can upload in the fullness of time. grinning smiley I also found a bunch of newspaper clippings regarding Keith's plan/threat to marry Anita onstage, which obviously never materialized--I'd forgotten all about that.

pretty standard practice with the day care center next door to my work they use the same group leash when they walk the kids around for there daily strol.not abuse at all .it's about safety .same thing for the day care by my home .you see them all over the place . go to any mall and you see parents with the kids on single rope/leashes.

"Reins" (not "leashes", at least not in the UK) were pretty standard for toddlers at least as far as the early 50s, when I wore mine.

From what I have seen with regards to the leash is if you take your kid out in public on a leash a certain percentage of people will be disgusted with you and you might hear comments..

reins were popular for parents to use on toddlers when i was a kid growing up in scotland.

it wasnt controversial and never considered abuse, and dont know why it should be, it kept kids from running away from thier parents or running in front of a car.

you dont see it these days though.

theres probably some white paper document from the scottish executive detailing how it affects the childs right to freedom. you know what some of these doogooders are like, do more harm than good.

Same when I was growing up in England. They were just normal, but times change. Certainly seems bizarre to think there was any abuse involved, quite the opposite, as you said.

Both my children had reins when we took them out walking, purely to stop them running off. They made a comeback after the James Bulger incident, 20 odd years ago.

What a drag it is gettin' old

Nah, that's his baby blade.

They're at the seaside in Ramsgate, according to the credit in Life - I'm guessing it's a kid's spade for digging on the beach.

It looks like he's dragging her too. Typical Keith, he's clearly in charge.
