One thing that stupefies me here is some people's complete lack of appreciation for other bands and artists than the Stones. Especially bands that have been around for a long time and work on the same foundation as the Stones (blues roots or whatever). Examples: Aerosmith, Led Zeppelin, Iggy Pop/Stooges, several progressive rock bands, U2 ...

when some posters -there are a few of them -don't put their signature between "" so I always think it's part of their post
LOL Swaystones, you mean like this ?
I am a Frenchie ,as Mick affectionately called them in the Old Grey Whistle Test in 1977 .

those signatures or whatever they're called that some people have on every single one of their messages.
Oh no ,that's too bad ! I was just thinking to add another pic to my signature :
youneedadrink,I understand how it can bother you.
When I need to post several messages on a same thread -like now- I try to post them without a signature ,but most of the time I forget to uncheck /untick the "add my signature" check box .
In another hand,it could be much more worse for you though.Intead of the 72's plane you could see a photo of Jagger's crotch on my signature

haha ! Bien trouvé .
Actually it's one of the chronic mistake I make in English .Don't know why .It took me a while to understand that "you teach someone ,you don't learn someone"

Believe me I've even heard that in Britain...ie. "He learned me how to drive"..............Oh God!...."He taught you how to drive you dumbass, taught!" From an English person it really does sound chronic...........

I once asked a British person, whose mother tongue was Gaelic, where he'd learnt English. His answer was: "Oh, my mother teached me English."

Of course I don't mind !
Feel free to correct my mistakes whenever you want
Another one for you if you don't mind :
how would you say " Je ne demande qu'à apprendre " ?
"I want to be teached" or "I want to learn "?
Cheers ,Sway

Re teaching and learning: EddieByword has it right. Teaching is the verb for giving knowledge, learning is the verb for receiving or absorbing it. Past tense is "taught", never "teached".
"I was taught French at school, but I never learned to speak it well."

I taught her everything, I taught her how to dream
I taught her everything, I'm going to teach her how to scream
I taught her all she knows, I taught her how to lie
I taught her everything, I'm going teach her how to cry

Getting back to the subject...
When someone has a really good idea for a new thread - but within a day it has spawned a dozen or more cheap imitations.

twenty years ago the Stones were still a pretty good live act - agreed?
They were also in their late 40s at the time even then.
Would Joe Namath have been able to play to NFL standards at that age?
Stupid analogy.
