How many times have you seen someone from the audience not only just jump on stage but the artist STOPPING security from throwing them off?

Giving a fan some

That was damn cool of Chuck.

Great moment even if Chuck is out of tune. Chuck is great and when one goes and one pays to a ChuckBerry's show, one shouldn't expect to see him play like it's 1964. He is a old man who loves his job and the benefits of it. Keep on rocking Chucky boy!

Please point me to a great live album or one of his small label re-recordings
of his hits that's decent, relatively in tune. I'm open to
comparing one of those releases to the 50s, early 60s output.

My favourite Chuck Berry live album (official or otherwise) is from 1983. Not exactly bang up to date of course, but neither is it the 50s / early 60s.

there are lots of great chuck shows circulating from the last few decades theat demonstrate him in very fine form. i very much disagree with shakeydeal's take on chuck.

Saw him a couple of years ago, and it was a great and, for me, easily as good an experience as when I first saw him 40 years ago, but in a different way. The guy is in his 80s, he played a major part in inventing rock as we know it, and he's still out there doing it. Go see him and enjoy it for what it is. The man is a legend. Period.
PS come back to the UK soon Chuck

He doesn't use a tuner, doesn't need to.

Is it just me (hopefully not) but does Chuck actually play better when he was interacting with the guy on stage? Sounds to me that CB raised his game.

It really was! Chuck is so great that he only needs to start a song. The audience takes care of the rest.

With all due respect, I can't believe CB let that stupid clown do his "thing" on his stage for so long. Security should have brought the guy outside and kicked his sorry little ass right into the street. Seriously, this clip is pretty painful to watch...

Chuck Berry is one of the greatest artists ever. A true GENIUS. He wrote excellent songs and great lyrics. He can really work an audience, has tons of charisma and a strong sense of humor (he's a very intelligent man). Spontaneity is what I like the most about Chuck Berry. His shows have always been based on improvisation. Each bootleg I got is special. Each version of Let It Rock has its magic, either from 1967 or 2009. Even today, he is very energetic. He walks through the stage, dances, jokes, laughs... In the last few years, I saw four Chuck Berry shows in Brazil. In all of them, people got really excited and 100% of the comments after the shows were positive. Everyone got satisfied. I mean, Chuck is having fun and the audience even more. So, for those who complain:

No, he tunes by ear. Even most of his Chess classics were slightly out of (so called) "perfect" tuning, & that's part of what makes them special...a bit like some of the early Stones stuff too.

It's a poor performance from Chuck, but I can't help but grin when he does the famous duck walk. The guy is an entertainer - and all the while he still has the ability to raise a smile, he'll be worth catching live. Go, Go, Chuck!

It was still better than that Lady GaGa show that was on HBO last night.

The magic of CB on stage is in his eyes. When his eyes are reflecting the lights, you'll
know he is enjoying himself and then the magic really starts. All the eyes in the audienc
start to shine. It's those moments of complete devotion to Rock 'n Roll that are worth
the price of admission and more.
