Considering that there's no pedal steel on the entire Sticky Fingers record and that Gram didn't (couldn't) play a pedal steel, I can't imagine it's much of a discussion.

Yes, we all know that, but sometimes there's always new fans that didn't know that story, so I thought it would be fine to post that link here.

Wasn't that steel guitar debate (not pedal steel) about an early take of WH back in the day? Supposedly, Gram's guitar player, Sneaky Pete Kleinow, played that part.
