Best - J Geils Band and George Thorogood on the same bill at Slane in 1982. Sheryl Crow was very good on the 5 UK dates in '99 and the two LA shows I saw in 2002.

Worst - Cooper Temple Clause (Dublin 2003). I grew a f**king beard during their set. Even more unbearable than Bon Jovi were in Paris in 1995.

Most anti-climactic - The Black Crowes at Wembley in 1995. Had heard so many great things about them, but they were hugely underwhelming and went down as well as a fart in a spacesuit.

He opened a few shows on the last tour. I saw him open in Arizona for them.

buddy guy, at least twice, even though he broke a string once in milwaukee.
the pretenders opening a chicago LICKS in '02 was great.

pearl jam in pittsburgh was very good.

metallica in SF for bigger bang was surprisingly good.

the meters in sunshine, florida for bigger bang. charlie stood behind the curtain for their entire set. maybe woody, too.

mope acts lose out to the festivites in the parking lot.

Best: Vue, Wilco, Neville Brothers

Worst: Dave Matthews for 5 agonizing shows in Amsterdam (and he butchered "Memory Motel" for 3 of those shows)

Oddest: whoever that was at Landgraaf in '99

favorite is Stones-music from the speakers...worst is any band when I went for The Stones....

Understand that completely; however, Buddy Guy opening for the Stones would be pretty cool....my most surprising opener was Johnny Lang.
..the kid could flat out shred, he played the bues so well...

the shoot 'em dead, brainbell jangler!

Best would have been James Brown at MSG in '81, but he cancelled.

TAMI Show.......

Doh! All talk of the best Stones warmup act begins and ends with James Brown on The TAMI Show. I went to the '81 MSG show where he cancelled about a week before. Screaming Jay Hawkins was mighty good in has place, however.

Best: The Hives (Stockholm, 2003), although this stage was way too big for them.

Worst: Dan Reed Network (Oslo, 1990)

i dont know if acdc counts as a warm up really...i rather see it as a co-headliner show. but if they do, they were the best. together with guns n roses, hellacopters and danko jones!

Cos BJ wanted to break big in France. It was the only market that still escaped him at that time (in 2011 France still resists) thumbs up
So I guess BJ's record label made Jagger an offer he couldn't refuse ($$$$) for an opening slot.

djgab do you remember Eric Lapointe? Even more difficult to stand than JBJ... confused smiley
