Yeah actually it's probably Jack, it seems too erratic and unsure to be Stu who usually rolled along without fear.

Simply because it's never been stated by any of the band or anyone involved who played the piano on CCC. So it comes down to speculation etc.

It was recorded at RCA circa August 1966, so Jack or Stu are the most likely players, given the kinda messy playing something which Stu didn't really do seems Jack is most likley pianist on CCC.

After listening to it again I'm almost certain it's Keith's feet.

This may be a stupid question ( but I'm known for it!) but are there any minor chords in CCC? Seems like I read here that Stu refused to play any minor chords...

LOL..StonesTod I have to admit that when I first saw you post on these boards I would get annoyed as sometimes it seemed you were just trolling with stuff about the band. But over time I came to realize I could enjoy your posts and not feel so bad towards the ones that I didn't agree with. And I have to say the above one is a great one!

In his recent book, Julian Dawson has Nicky down for barrelhouse piano in "Cool, Calm And Collected", in his first Stones session (being invited after work on "A Degree Of Murder").

CCC was recorded in USA about 6 or so months before ADOM sessions took place.

No way that's Nicky on piano on that track.

Line-up ‘Cool, Calm And Collected’: MJ (voc, harm)/KR (gtr, bvoc)/BJ (kazoo,
banjo)/BW (bass)/CW (dr)/Nicky Hopkins (p)

Yeah at least one version was. You are a better judge on this period than me, so I stand corrected. Or Julian does, hehe.
I guess Julian used Nicos site for reference, the 661213A file: 13th of December overdubs in London prior to the RCA mixing session.

If it is Nicky that is surprising indeed. I always thought his first sessions with the Stones was for Satanic.

I have many doubts about CCC.

MJ(vocals, harm?)
KR(,gtr,kazoo,bvocal)
BJ(electric dulcimer, harm?) There is no banjo or sitar on that one.
Piano: Jack Nitzsche(most probably) or Stu. I never hear about the Nicky Hopkins hypothesis.
We know very little about Between the Buttons sessions...

Seeing how the piano starts the track it would have been recorded as part of the backing track at RCA circa August 1966. Not much overdubs on CCC. Sounds like it's mostly a good, fun full band take with vocals and kazoo dubbed on.
