Bobby Womack's final album to be released before the end of 2014

WENN

Bobby Womack's longtime tour manager and sidekick is hoping to release the album the soul great had just completed before his death in June in time for the holidays.

Don Smalls tells WENN new tracks, including collaborations with rappers Snoop Dogg, Rick Ross and late R&B star Teena Marie, will feature on the untitled release, which will kick start a flurry of activity for the Womack estate.

He says, "It's in the can and we're hoping to drop the album in the next 60 days. We're currently deciding what label the album will be released on."

Smalls reveals there's a feast of riches to work with, including tracks Womack recorded recently with Van Morrison and Ronnie Wood, but there's one planned project with Sharon Jones and Amy Winehouse's backing group The Dap Kings that won't be realized.

Smalls adds, "We were booked to hit the studio with The Dap Kings on August 23. They wanted to record an album project with Bob. The guys came to Bob's house to meet with him and the whole thing had been greenlighted.

"Bob was really looking forward to getting into the studio with those guys."

A live album from a concert Womack performed in Georgia last year, an all-star tribute show, a documentary and a biopic are also in the works.
