...Natalie Maines cover of the Beach Boys God Only Knows for Big Love this year was nothing short of outstanding....and that's a nice compliment Mick paid Keith on Satisfaction.."It has a great guitar sound, which was original at that time"

Like A Rolling Stone deserves #1...but Satisfaction should have been #2...over A Day in the Life. But least it beat out Hey Jude, which I think has been way overhyped throughtout the years...I never listen to it...never really did for that matter.

of course...i was sort of kidding. HOWEVER, if you agree that the top ten is pretty solid, then I would only ask IYHO, what song pre-1965 should have cracked the top ten, in place of these? For me, I actually prefer other Beach Boys tunes, but I'd give them number 10. I think Dock Of The Bay, should have replaced it though.

I know that everything is subjective...my only point was that the 60's was an unbelievable time in the development of pop music, ESPECIALLY after 1964.

Doesn't take anything away from the early sixties.

IMHO....."Paint it Black" should be somewhere on this list!!!!, especially over a "Day in the Life" which IMHO is not much of a "rock song"..... This may sound crazy, but.... IMHO... "Sloop John B" by the Beach Boys has a nicer melody than "God Only Knows"...other gems like"Street Fighting Man" and "The Last Time" rock so much more than "Hey Jude".

I might consider "Hey Jude" for my worst ten....

Sloop John B I love, and would have been my choice for a Beach Boys song on that list.

Huh, add 'Tell Me' the long version (4:05) to Dylans album Highway 61 Revisited and you got your 10 songs from the sixties....

2 1 2 0
