The Rolling Stones: hotstuff (New best of album-out today)
Posted by: Per-Arne ()
Date: March 21, 2011 22:39

Today 21 march was a new best of album released. The name of it is "hotstuff"
01.Start me up
02.Harlem Shuffle
03.Miss You
04.Beast of Burden
05.Doo Doo Doo Doo Doo
06.Happy
07.Angie
08.You got me rocking
09.Shattered
10.Fool to cry
11.Mixed emotions
12.Tumbling dice
13.Undercover
14.Emotional rescue
15.It's only rock'n'roll
16.Wild horses
17.Hot Stuff

It is sold by a norwegian company for clouds with the name "Dressmann" They also have stores in Sweden,Denmark,Finland,Estonia and Germany (And maybe some others?- I asked the guy in the store to upgrade all the IORR-members)
They say it's only for Dressmann, but it's nothing on the cover that say it's a Dressmann-release. I will not be surprised if it's in regular record-stores in a couple of months - but I don't know
Front-cover: Tounge
Back-cover: Rarities-front cover
Label: Tounge

Universal/Polydor

And the number of this item is: 533 250 4

........and I have not played it yet, but I can see that some of the years behind some of the songs is different from the first release. eks: Miss you 1994

Hope the information was usefull

So they've changed the order of Jump Back, and added YGMR.

A must have!

Hmm... This site doesn't mention Doo Doo Doo Doo Doo. I do still wonder why they released this... Is it for some special occasion? It seems a rather pointless release.

The occasion is that there's a norwegian clothing store chain with a Rolling Stones collection in their stores.....picked up a sweater or 2 myself; those "TOTA-sweaters" are quite nice

Doubt that the Hot Stuff CD compilation will be sold other places than at that clothing store.....almost like those starbucks-deals you have in America, I reckon

I am sorry but those T-shirts are horrible. The design/motif on it is way to big. Who wants to wear a T-shirt with a gigantic Jagger head on it, I mean beside hillbillies and rednecks.
Rock and Roll,
Mops

Hmmmm - I said I liked the "eagle sweater", so why complain to me about those t-shirts ? And why say you're sorry? It's not my clothing store

edit: I forgot to say: you stoopid woman

Anyone know how to actually order the 'As worn by' stuff?

Agreed about that one. I'd never buy anything from Dressman. End of story.
Well, if they'd sell tix to Stones club shows I might change my mind after all...

You mean that's it? That's the whole story of which you're ending? Miserable story

...

8. Undercover Of The Night (Dub)

13. Like A Rolling Stone (Album Version)

15. Don´t Stop (New Rock Mix)
16. Rain Fall Down (will.i.am Remix)

Remixes do not belong on a singles collection. That's fooling innocent customers.

And the "hotstuff" track list suggests that it will sell even less than "Rarities Vol. 1"

It's only new material that will bring the Stones any further. And I'm not talking abut Mick's aborted Nokia adventure. Might he have a contract with them that rules out the Stones from releasing anything new before they put out "Super Heavy"? Who knows?

I would somewhat understant their deal with Dressman if theres a TOUR and a NEW cd coming out.Now its bloody pointless.
Even more stupid to release jump back pt.2

Why does a new best of package botehr you?

You need a 70-onwards best of to sell in record stores.

If 40 licks is no longer available and jump back is old, what should they do?

They essentially reissued Jump Back with a different title and one "new" song. Fortunately it's not a world wide release. UMe reissued Jump Back to begin with and changed nothing. There is no need for a new Stones hits comp - nobody gives a shit! Just get Jump Back as far as 1971 onwards!

Or Rewind, which is even better track wise...

This one is a promo only cd to promote the new 7" (cd) singles box. [store.universal-music.co.uk]
Hot Stuff on the other hand is a low price collection which is easy to add buy as an extra when you are buying shirts, trousers, sox etc.

I was being a little 'flippant' with that comment I know, but between Made in the Shade, Rewind, Jump Back, and 40 Licks there is very little I haven't seen rehashed. Very hard to get excited by something like this.

Well, isn't rehashing the very nature of Best Of / Greatest Hits compilations? It's not that the Stones have tons more "greatest hits" that are always overlooked whenever samplers like this are compiled.

Of course, but why do we need re-re-re-rehashing??

The Stones catalogue hasn't been the worst at this (calling elvis), but they're getting pretty damn good at it!

Isn't there yet another official release called "Time Waits For No One"?

Yes, and it contains an unedited version of the title track. I'd buy it if they'd only release it on CD...
