Well, it's probably due to the fact that these songs is now public domain, but for what it's worth, a digital ep featuring the early demos from 1961, seems to have been given an 'official' release on iTunes.

1. Blueboy Medley
2. Beautiful Delilah
3. I Ain't Got You
4. Little Queenie

It's under the Albums section. You have to look closely. There is no photo, only a blue tinted cover with yellow lettering.

That's what I thought but it doesn't explain this release which contains Beatles songs and I'm fairly confident that their inclusion wasn't sanctioned by EMI, The Beatles or Apple. Also, the Blue Boys tracks have never had an official release so I would have thought that they were fair game. I expect to see "Come On" appearing on similar compilations next year.

What are the sources for these? Are they better than what's already available on most boots?

These are in no way "official" releases and if you already have them you certainly don't need to pay for them again.

Weird.

Maybe there is some loop holes that can be taken advantage of.

We all have these, I guess.
But now we can justify to include them on our little home made collections of official released stuff... If we're into those things! :-D

Ridiculously awful cover! If that cover could be translated to a line of clothing, it would look something like....

But, really, those songs are now in the public domain, and that's why they are being released? Must explain why this release is not available in the U.S., where the standard copyright laws extend for 70 years.

An artist can publish old material that hasn't been formally released but that the artist may one day want to release. Hence, you print 100 copies, and now you have the copyright for the next 50 - 70 years.

I think there was a Dylan collection of material with extremely limited release that was put out recently for just that reason.

Is it available elsewhere than on iTunes ?

BTW what is Newport Music ? (copyright owner according to iTunes UK)

Newport Music may have jumped the gun on this knowing there was a chance that 50 years would be overruled. This title much just disappear very soon.

For those who are wondering, the audio's not any better than what's been widely available on boots.
