"A stunning color photograph by Annie Leibovitz will make Dirty Work the most noticed album in every record store."

"A special packaging treat is red cellophane shrinkwrap which renders the cover black and white."

There's a Spinal Tap-ish brilliance about the whole campaign.

Wow. It makes you wonder what the hell kind of music promotion is done in America now. I say America because at least videos are still seen in Europe on readily accessible channels. And of course, classy Bill & Charlie were nowhere to be seen.

This promo reel is ghastly, but still 10x better the album.

Fascinating, humourous and positively cringeworthy.
If there is any question out there, of what the career low point is for this band was, I think we've just established it.

You don't even have to play the album, you just have to watch 2 minutes of the promo reel.

Thanks for sharing Blue Ranger...I wonder what Mick & Keith would think about watching this 25 years later?

Probably some Sinatra-era sales rep had to sit through that, then went home and said to his wife, "Fix me a double. Mick Jagger today called me a dirty motherfukcer."

The opinion here on Dirty Work is exactly how I feel about Undercover. Ghastly album...

Undercover is by all means a fantastic album. Listen through the 80's production, and you'll find one of the meanest and aggressive Stones albums. Jagger is outstanding throughout.

absolutely Spinal Tap-ish. The Spinal Tap movie was released in '84 and Dirty Work in '86...
didn't they learn anything? Smell The Glove!

can't believe i haven't seen this before (thanks for posting Blueranger).

definitely cringeworthy. shows how cheeseball Mick & Keith are willing to act.
how could they not know how silly they'd look? I realize they were reading a script etc..
but come on. Mr. Tough Guy Keith acting like a fool.

IORR............but I like it!

Agreed...Undercover and DW are leagues apart. The title track alone is probably the best single they've done, excepting Start Me Up in the last 3 decades.

If A Bigger Bang had received that kind of multi channel promotional activities and investment...

Any Undercover song is a waste of time in concert
(then again so is Start Me Up-they coulda retired that years ago along with Miss You.)

"Dirty Work" was a catastrophe, "Undercover" merely a disappointment.

Never seen this before.

Brutal in it's cheesiness. Cant make up my mind whether it's Jagger or the near-orgasmic twit who sounds like he thought he was doing a voice-over for 'Ben-Hur' who's more cringeworthy.

Undercover has its moments while Dirty Work to this day, sounds like a motley collection of outtakes from two different solo albums.

It's not Larry. It sounds like the guy on this FRIDAY NIGHT VIDEOS intro:

The "twit" sounds like Larry King (who, by the way, isn't a twit). This is, of course, an internal sales video. Something for the Under Assistant West Coast Promo Man?

good one, on the 'Ben-Hur' observation...but I think Jagger is worse.
For one thing, he throws out some expletives for no reason that I can see, other than to 'appear' cool.

It is an embarrassment.

Calling it irony doesn't save it from being dated and stupid.

No, because you're doing it for the pure pleasure and joy of it.
It is f*ckin' real!
Mick is doing it to look cool, making him look very uncool.

Having seen some of his interviews - including the one with Jagger last year - I respectfully beg to differ.

Its not him doing the voiceover, though.
