Well, it's just about that time of year again to get out your Christmas records and get in the mood. Keith's Run Rudolf Run is one of the all time greats. What are your other favourites?

Wham - Last Christmas
Do They Know It's Christmas - Band Aid
Jingle Bells - ?
I'm Dreaming Of White Chirstmas - Bing Crosby
Santa Claus Is Coming To Town - Bruce Springsteen

A pity that The Stones never made a special chirstmas song..... ;-)

Merry Christmas Baby. He fools around a bit with it here, but it's still good.

Slight overstatement maybe?

For me there is only one definitive Xmas record and that is Phil Spector's (not the most wonderful human being perhaps, but he sure knew how to make fantastic sounds)...

Mr.Ed

The nearest they came was the hidden track known as Cosmic Christmas at the end of Their Satanic Majesties Request.

Here's a cheery little ditty:

"Please Daddy don't get drunk this Christmas
I don't want to see my Momma cry
Please Daddy don't get drunk this Christmas
I don't want my Momma cry

Just last year when I was only seven
Now I'm almost eight, as you can see
You came home a quarter past eleven
And fell down underneath
our Christmas tree

"Please Daddy don't get drunk this Christmas
I don't want to see my Momma cry
Please Daddy don't get drunk this Christmas
I don't want my Momma cry

I don't want my Momma die

Mama smiled and looked
Outside the window
She told me son
You better go upstairs Then you laughed and hollered
"Merry Christmas"
I turned around and saw
My Momma's tears...

Silver Bells by Diana Ross and the Supremes is my favorite Christmas song.

I know this will sound strange, but I also like Willie Nelson's 'Pretty Paper' album. The Beach Boys Christmas Album is my second favorite though.

Graham Parker's Christmas Cracker - a 3-song EP from the mid-90s. "Christmas Is for Mugs" (hilarious), "New Year's Revolution" (inspiring), and "Soul Christmas" (fun).

Mary grows a child without the help of a man
Joseph get upset because he doesn't understand
Angel comes to Joseph in a powerful dream
Says "God did this and you're part of his scheme"
Joseph comes to Mary with his hat in his hand
Says "forgive me I thought you'd been with some other man"
She says "what if I had been -- but I wasn't anyway and guess what
I felt the baby kick today"

(CHORUSsmiling smiley
Like a stone on the surface of a still river
Driving the ripples on forever
Redemption rips through the surface of time
In the cry of a tiny babe

The child is born in the fullness of time
Three wise astrologers take note of the signs
Come to pay their respects to the fragile little king
Get pretty close to wrecking everything
'Cause the governing body of the whole land
Is that of Herod, a paranoid man
Who when he hears there's a baby born King of the Jews
Sends death squads to kill all male children under two
But that same bright angels warns the parents in a dream
And they head out for the border and get away clean

(Chorus)

There are others who know about this miracle birth
The humblest of people catch a glimpse of their worth
For it isn't to the palace that the Christ child comes
But to shepherds and street people, hookers and bums
And the message is clear if you've got ears to hear
That forgiveness is given for your guilt and your fear
It's a Christmas gift you don't have to buy
There's a future shining in a baby's eyes
