The Banana Splits, The Archies and Josie and the Pussy Cats were my favorite acts in the 1960s. All others were a distant second...

However, if you were to ask me what my favorite bands of the '60s were I would give a different answer..

My favorite song in 1969 was Snoopy vs. the Red Baron. And I loved HErb Albert & the Tijuana Brass back then (still do, actually).

A friend of mine has a theory that Flo & Eddie were the brains behind the Banana Splits (this would've a year or two been before they hooked up with Zappa). He claims on an early LP of theirs that he has says that they were under contract with Hanna Barbera records. I've never read any other mention of this anywhere, so I have no idea if there's any truth to it, but its an interesting theory. Some of those old Banana Splits songs do almost sound like they could've been by Flo & Eddie messing around.
