Got an old album kicking around where on one song he does an extended rap about being arrested for busking in London-not bad. If I'm not mistaken Reggie Dwight aka Elton John is on piano

I haven't seen any photos of him with the stones but that's not to say there aren't any. I understand he's the voice introducing the stones on "Got Live If you want it". Vaguely recall one of the stones saying he was the first openly gay guy they'd come across. The "John" in Elton John is supposed to be a reference to him.

I've been playing this since it came out in 1971, that's 42 years ago... oh dear.

I didn't find the original by Ron Davies till later, still the definitive I figure. Never liked Bowie's version, he shouldn't have changed the lyrics

Serious Stones alert here folks, that's our Ronnie on slide guitar

Saw an excellent documentary on his life on CBC television (I think) in Canada a few years ago. He lived his final years in Vancouver. I saw him at a Rod Stewart concert in Vancouver in the early 80's. It was hard not to notice him! I believe Rod mentioned during the concert that his friend Long John is living in Vancouver and was there that night.

I don't know about photos, but I did come across this video which has The Beatles singing along and claims the Stones are there too. The shot of the Beatles is at 1:30 but I don't see the Stones anywhere.

His website says he was 6-foot-7.

Here's a photo of LJB with Macca--how about 5-foot-7?

I don't think so...

You need to take perspective into account (objects farther away appear smaller)

They're practically standing beside one another. The tip of LJB's right foot is in the same sidewalk square and is even with Macca's left foot, and Macca is not looking up at LJB--at all. And Macca's only 5-foot-8 (Beatle heights were exaggerated for the public--Ringo is not five-eight, but is five-five, maybe five-six).

Your right Long John definately lived in Vancouver for quite a few years before he passed. They held his funeral there with quite a number of celeb's attending. Don't know where he's buried Canada or England however. Saw him live once or twice in Edmonton, it was a soggy year, and he was simply fantastic! What a voice! And I can verify he was atleast 6'6" or more.

While searching for pictures of him, I came across this--he's buried in England, apparently.
