The Best 5 Minutes Of The Tour...
Posted by: palerider22 ()

Been listening to the Hyde Park concert(iTunes) quite a bit...and there's no question in my mind at least, that the best 5 minutes of the show were first 5 minutes right here...before the 'audience participation' part. The old, dangerous Stones we all love were back for one brief moment of ecstacy...At 4:52 Jagger exclaims..."No sh!t!"....He got that right...

5 Minutes Of Glory

Utter highlight of the gig and the Hyde Park album.
That "no shit" is superb .. such an incredible performance.

I haven't ploughed through all the other tour Ramblers yet (only Glasto and the other HP) but was this song normally done this well?

Blew my knackers off.

Back to letting the guitars drive the train...

Not a Chuck hater here, but I have missed that driving rhythm guitar. They should keep the 3 guitar sound.

To me the best 5 minutes of the tour are the last 5 ones of this one. And again he has that look in his eyes: don't mess with me!

the best five minutes: the moment just before the show has started...all people were cheering and sreaming...this special atmosphere of tension, if you can not take it anymore...and than the voice:Ladys and Gentlemen, welcome back to Hyde Park, the Rolling Stones!...and suddenly they were there! That was the best moment ever...

Lady Jane is just a nice song, but Ruby T. is a masterpiece. But what a poor rendition at Hyde Park! Gimme the studio version any time. I prefer the live rendition done by Melanie Safka much more. This live version is bloodless and soulless. A singalong mass song. Good grief.

Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat? confused smiley

Beautifully sung, performed and played. Some ace tenor-playing from Tim.

Excellent rendition that really casted new life to this song, imo.

I thought these were the best 3:45 minutes of the tour.

If only MJ would have allowed MT to stretch out a bit, it should have been over 5 minutes of musical nirvana.

You know that I do, too, kleerie.

Why was this version weak - Mick's singing? Keith's playing?, Charlie's drumming? The sax playing Brian's part? The interplay? The sound? The ending wasn't tight enough?

Usually, when I criticise something I tell why. I'll await your grounds with particular interest, as this was a version I really enjoyed on the new live album.
