Now what?

Things will certainly come to a crawl around here for a while. It feels like the first real break since the Exile bonus tracks set us on the 50th Anniversary track in 2010. For a while our stockings were full with DVDs and 'bootleg' concerts, and even Crossfire, a let down as a full documentary, but still had a few tidbits.

The band will now go into hiding, with maybe individuals seen out and about, taking in a cricket match, or having lunch with Johnny Depp. I don't think we'll hear from them again until at least September, when they will probably announce new gigs.

There's still vault material to release. An official Hampton '81 DVD, or LA 1975. An official boot of Leeds 1971. It's out there but they might cool it, just to let demand build again, though they will need a traditional stocking stuffer for the Christmas season. It can't be another greatest hits compilation, so maybe it will be something interesting.

All in all a very Stones year, contentious at times, but still rocking. I hope there were a lot of people who had never seen the Stones and got their chance to see legends, without the experience of having seen them in better times. I hope people just enjoyed the communal experience of being with the band.

Now what? Now we wait. To pass the time, we speculate. The future looks great, you know I can't wait--so don't be late!

In the meantime, Beatles vs. Stones anyone?

its up to us now.

somehow we've got to convince them to book several more club shows, and not to wait long to do it..

i'm talking a couple of weeks rest..and then back to the gigs!

The overly examined tour leg that was overrated and overpriced to some is now just...over

The Christmas stocking stuffer will be the tour duets compilation DVD.

I guess they could compile everything and get it out there in time for the Holidays. We'll get what, the Pay-Per-View, Glastonbury, Hyde Park, and what else? London 02? Or is that too much England?

Talk of new songs is just that. There's zero point in them doing a new LP. The last one was released in 2005. It's 2013. That's beyond ridiculous. Especially if you consider that the newest song played on the tour, with the exception of one show and a fund raiser, was released in 1981. A ways to go to represent 50 years in regards to their existence.

More archive releases make sense.

No, I don't really think that GB, I was just going with the horse theme. I thought about using the old western saying, 'that horse has been rode hard and put away wet', but a few esteemed forum members would have gone to town with that one. Stonestod would have been one of them. grinning smiley
