Wasn't he single handedly responsible for the softer more keyboard/synthesized sound on SW/UJ Tours? Glad his only input since then has been the French horn on YCAGWYW.

Actually think he has been responsible for vetting out and rehearsing the choirs in each city, often months ahead of time. Gotta give him props, YCAGWYW was excellent in every city with the choirs.

Yes they were and Matt Clifford deserves credit for that. The Stones obviously like and appreciate him, so I do too!

I believe this goes against the IORR policy and should be considered offensive.

Looks to me like the Chuck-in-ator was able ease Matt up and out of keyboard duties/ Matt, Lisa, Bernard first got to be Stones connected on MJ solo records and tours

He did great on the horn

As long as he doesen't ruin the sound by beeing a 2nd keyboardist on stage with the Stones, he can do whatever he wants.

but even better would be if he could just unplug chuck before the show, then he would be a real contributor to the quality of the show.

Maybe they could hide Matt under the stage during the performance.

There are videos on Youtube where Matt plays a keyboard. He is behind the stage not to far from Chuck. One can say he is hidden; I don't think the audience can see him. I remember the first time I saw that video, it was strange because I didn't expect to see an hidden musician backing up the stones. Is he introduced by Mick during the band's presentation? I don't think he is.

Yes he was visible on some screen shots. I doubted it was him but he was playing keys behind Chuck.

At Hyde Park ?!

Are you sure it wasn't Tim Ries who was seen playing keyboards with Chuck on the US tour, can't remember on which tracks now.

Matt's been Mick's "musical aide de camp" since 1992 (they met when he was helping Anderson, Bruford, Wakeman and Howe record in Montserrat when the Stones were recording SW) as an article in "Vanity Fair" from April 1992 called him.

I think that in the same way that having Chuck makes it easier for Mick to go back on the road with the Stones, having Matt makes it easier for Mick to demo his tracks and therefore keep on writing new stuff. In light of that, I'd still like to know exactly how his "absence" on VL went down...can't have been Mick's decision. Was it some type of compromise with Keith?
