I think that Stills' was renting the house on 3615 Shady Oak Road from Peter Tork.

There was a story about Steve not wanting Peter to come by and meet the Stones, since a being Monkee (or ex-Monkee) was as uncool as it could get in 1969.

I heard that Peter was actually living in the basement at the time - he blew his Monkees cash partying all through '68 and then buying himself out of the remaining years of his contract at the end of the year. By late '69 he was b-r-o-k-e and thus rented it out to Stills.

I never would have guessed that photo was taken in NYC. Maybe they had a show that night at the Fillmore East, which was not far from where the picture was taken.
