If Buddy Guy does join the Stones onstage what song should they do?

I don't think they will do Champagne and Reefer again but maybe still tip the hat to Chicago blues. Some Muddy Waters or Willie Dixon perhaps? I could see the doing Buddy's Slippin' In with Mick and Buddy exchanging "while you were slipping out, I was slippin' in".

Dear Lord, not Champagne & Reefer, there are so many better songs out there. Mannish Boy, please!

They will do Champagne and Reefer because that is the song The Stones have recently rehearsed, plus it's the one people remember Buddy Guy with The Stones for from the Shine A Light movie.

Most people at the show probably never saw Shine A Light.

sigh. it's inevitable that it will be some boring blues song...buddy will tone it down out of respect and mick will sound like a little school boy trying to sing the blues.

maybe they'll do a cool samba together and do a bump-and-grind on the stage....

They needn't have seen it, as it turns out.

Now that people attending the show know days in advance who Friday's guest will be, when they do their online research and Google "Buddy Guy Rolling Stones", Champagne and Reefer comes up at the top of the list with a YouTube clip. In fact, 4 of the 5 results for video on Google Page 1 are C&R.

The other result from this page is from the Checkerboard Lounge in '81, which Friday's audience is even less likely to know.

Don't over-estimate the ability of the casual fan to do even the most basic research. I went to see Neil Young & Crazy Horse many times over the last year ... I couldn't believe how many complaints there were about the noise/feedback/jams and lack of Old Man-type songs. It was like they thought they were going to see Neil Young and didn't even know Crazy Horse were playing. I reckon there will be about 5 casual fans who attempt to youtube Buddy Guy & the Stones.
