What can we expect from the Hyde Park shows?
Posted by: bernard90mike ()

What do you think looking forward to the Hyde Park shows...

Will the Stones perform a full concert set - like they do during their North American tour (22-23 songs) - or will we just get something like a 'trimmed version'(15-18 songs)...
Cause actually the Hyde Park shows are festival performances...

Both Macca and Springsteen last year gave heroically long performances at Hyde Park and I fully expect the Stones to do the same. The big questions are 'will they roll out Bill' and 'how many songs will Mick Taylor get given'.

I have a good feeling that Taylor will play at least 4 songs.

I don't think they will do more than the 22 song set but they certainly shouldn't do less. Plenty of Mick Taylor please, especially considering he made his debut as a Stone there.

I'll bet he plays the whole show there...it only makes sense.

What can we expect from the Hyde Park shows ?

Two shitkicking shows from the Rolling Stones, that's WHAT !! cool smiley

Oh, that's if Mick has recovered from the inevitable cold he'll catch in late June as a result of exercising some very poor judgement; namely playing in a field full of cows and tents in the middle of bloody nowhere & when it's virtually guaranteed to be pissing with rain throughout ............. this is "England in the summer" after all we're talking about !!

Sh*t support acts.

Elton John has just announced a Hyde Park show on 12 July with support from Ray Davies and Elvis Costello. Why can't the Stones have support like that which will suit their core audience rather than a load of young nobodys?

Silver Train with Mick Taylor on guitar, Mick and Keith sharing the mic and singing

the chorus: "And I didn't know her name, and I didn't know her name...".

The crowd goes crazy...

Because The Stones gigs were assumed to be sold out. So no expensive support acts are needed.
Elton John will probably not sell out, so they need some artists to boost the sales.

And those support acts on the stones nights are no nobodies. Actually I'm looking forward seeing some of them (Jake Bugg, Gary Clark Jr, Triggerfinger).
Give them a chance.

Mick Taylor will never play a whole show with the Stones again, I think Hyde Park will be a greatest hits show like Glastonbury, certainly no songs that 90% of the audience wouldn't know.

I hope for some surprises in the setlist but MT will have 3 songs at the most.

It would be really cool to recreate the setlist from the Hyde Park 1969 gig. Downhome Girl!

My wish would be the Stones in formation of the era 1969-1974, playing 2 or 3 rarities from that era to make Hyde Park 2013 something special.

As far as I have read, the shipping of the Tickets is about two weeks before [www.iorr.org] .

Can we expect a mention of Brian & Stu? No need to dust off the Shelley - just a few words during the show would be great. Jagger could probably still fit into the Hyde Park dress that he borrowed from Sammy Davis, Jr.

I think it would be a special concert .....don't ask me why...............

By the way......there will be 60.000 people fro the concert.....isn't there room for 300.000 or more......so why buy tickets if you can hang out in the park for free????

Have you seen the Isle of Wight Festival setlist? More than 1/3 were probably "songs that 90% of the audience wouldn't know". However, it was disappointingly short - and that was noticed even by non-stones fans! They should play a full set at Glastonbury and certainly at Hyde Park.

1 Start Me Up
2 You Got Me Rocking
3 Rough Justice
4 Love In Vain (with guest Paolo Nutini)
5 Can't You Hear Me Knocking
6 Ain't Too Proud To Beg (with guest Amy Winehouse)
7 Tumbling Dice
8 I Wanna Hold You (Keith)
9 Slipping Away (Keith)
10 Miss You (to B-stage)
11 Satisfaction (B-stage)
12 Honky Tonk Women (to main stage)
13 Sympathy For The Devil
14 Brown Sugar
15 Jumping Jack Flash (encore)

They should invite Paul McCartney for "I Wanna Be Your Män" Peter Green for "Little Red Rooster" and Steve Winwood for the intro of "We love You" and back ground vocals.......grinning smiley
That would make it special for me...............
