What Happened To Little Queenie? Play It Again, Stones
Posted by: ohnonotyouagain ()

They played Little Queenie at the club show and haven't played it since. I'd really love it if they'd bust this one out at least a few more times. Anybody else want to hear them play this song?

Agreed, Keith can still pull off old Chuck licks......good songs, in their comfort zone.....would be welcome.

any chuck berry song. not only would it be great and they would play it great, it would be a fitting part of a 50th anniversary celebration to tribute the man who started it all.

I would love for this to happen! I wish they would replace Miss You with Street Fighting Man.

I'd rather they play it w/Mick Taylor.

OT: remember when Steve Martin was funny and clever? He should have stuck with comedy, his greatest strength. Who can forget King Tut??

Berry stuff - like Midnight Rambler - has always worked. They did great Queenie versions in 97(last Berry tour).I think Taylor is more needed on other songs.

Have they played "Carol" since the '69 tour?

Other Chuck songs would be better. Jagger is smart enough at/near age 70 years old not to look foolish singing about a girl who "looks to good to be a minute over 17". Same with Stray Cat, sorry. A man has to know his limitations and MJ does.

your sarcasm is very much appreciated.

No sarcasm intended. Here ia 70 year old man singing a song about checking out a little girl, that would look gross and he would appear silly. On Ya Ya's he lowers the age to "13 years old", imagine how creepy and idiotic MJ would look singing those lines today? These are not things MJ or the Rolling Stones want to be rembered for. There are plenty of great Chuck Berry songs to draw from and rock out.

This is like a flashback to the Ed Sullivan request;

"OK Mick you can sing it but you have to change the lyrics to "She looks to good to be a minute over 53..."

Never mind just play, Wee Wee Hours by Chuck Berry.

The Stones did Back in the U.S.A. on July 12, 1962. Might be fitting at this point.... particularly as it seems like they have been in Los Angeles for three months!

well they already rearranged IORR as a Chuck Berry rave up, but I guess one more wouldn't hurt. My personal choice would be Sweet Little Sixteen. I saw the Faces back in 75, and like Keith, Ronnie could play those tunes in his sleep.

Not really, I 'd rather hear She's So Cold - also from Echoplex but not yet played.

I am going to be tweeting at them daily trying to get a movement going. I doubt it will work but its worth a shot. Kurt, the two of us will lead this fruitless conquest! Sweet Little Rock 'n Roller or BUST!

I would be happy with ANY Chuck Berry song.

did it occur to you that maybe if you got your berry tune that after hearing it performed, you might regret your conquest? hmmm?

Are there people on Earth other than Richards/Wood you'd rather hear play Chuck Berry?

There are a bunch of complainers here who long for the days when they were "dangerous". What's more dangerous than a 70-year old man checking out a little girl? Has Chuck dropped it from his own setlist?

Sadly, the Stones probably DON'T want to pay royalties to Berry for the use of his tunes
Its the whole ASCAP thing.....
