I think this holds up as fascinating time-capsule stuff- really interesting - and has there ever been a more joyless, miserable, frustrating, tense, awkward looking wedding day? Just utterly stressed and depressing - like two people being led to the gallows - but cool to watch!

They f**ked up by having it in St Tropez. I recall reading in one of the Jagger bios that he didnt realise until it was too late that by law his wedding was open to the public.

Wow,and we think the papparazzi is bad these days. What an absoulute zoo that was.

Another interesting thing is an obvious tension between the two before the ceremony. Mick had just asked Bianca to sign a pre-nup and that icy look was her reaction. What a scoundrel he was. But then in those photos during the ceremony, they look genuinely happy.
And I've always wondered why Bobby Keys is standing where the "best man" should have been standing. Keith mentions it in "Life" but didn't really give a reason.
Anybody know?

Not sure when Bobby Keys is seen in the footage. However, in the images i the mayor office, when Mick is talking in French to the photographers, Nathalie Delon, Bobby's gf at the time, is standing there (in the black and yellow dress), next to the tall guy who is none other than Roger Vadim, director of Barbarella, and at various times husband or bf of Brigitte Bardot, Jane Fonda, and Catherine Deneuve. Not a bad record, I'd say.

according to several accounts, the police tried to stop Keith from entering, not knowing who he was, of course.
maybe that caused enough of a delay in Keith's arrival that that's why Bobby stood in for him?

i know Keith was there, but the question (i thought) was why he isn't where you'd expect the best man to be, and Bobby is.
my theory is that possibly the hassle Keith had getting into the joint had something to do with it.

Yeah, Bobby is not just there, he's standing where a "best man" would be. And Keith did mention that he "stood" in for him, but didn't give a reason....

Many years ago, my ex husband was supposed to be best man for someone. We had to drive to another state for the ceremony and there was a crazy accident - eventually after waiting a long time for him (this was before we had cell phones) they started without him and asked someone else to step in. We got there in the middle of the ceremony, but there was no way he was going to interrupt and take his real place.

Could've been the same type of situation. Keith didn't want to interrupt.

Wasn't looking too good, but I was feeling real well.

According to "Life": "I slid off, leaving Bobby Keys who was a close friend of Mick's in those days, to act as assistant best man or whatever. Roger Vadim was best man". Obviously Keith slid off after the picture was taken. Roger Vadim is in the picture, next to Nathalie Delon, Bianca's bridesmaid.

Basically, whatever.

I thought Vadim and Delon were "witnesses". Bobby seems to be in the right spot for "assistant best man". lol...
This is the kind of minutia I love.

Witnesses are for the earlier civil wedding. Vadim and Delon might have been witnesses too. Next time someone goes to Saint-Tropez, they should look at the public record.

Does anybody know what Steven Stills played at the reception? Or who else played besides PJ Prody or whatever his name was...?

Yeah, with the flip and the flowery dress and everything....the image of Carol Brady always stuck me when I looked at the wedding pics.
