OT :My band's 30th anniversary celebration!
Posted by: rollmops ()

Although I have been an IORRian for many years, I have never formally introduced myself. My name is Thierry Bodin aka "Rollmops". I first used that name in 1981 when I started a radio show on Radio + in Blois, France then it stayed with me.
Why "Rollmops"? Because it was the first ever rock and roll song written in french. That was 1956 the song was "Rock and Rollmops" composed by Boris Vian and Henri Salvador.
My band "THREE TIME LOSER" was formed in 1982 and I joined in 1985. There will be a concert on november the 17th in Blois to celebrate the 30 years of 3TL. I live in the USA now and they are flying me for the weekend just for the show. Pretty cool!
Here is video clip from 1987 that we shot in Orleans.
Joepeckman :guitar, vocal
Mitch de la Nova :Bass, vocal
Bebert : Drums
Rollmops : guitar,harmonica
Rock and Roll,
Mops

In 1987 0r 88 we went on tour in Spain and we rented a recording studio where we taped a couple of songs; here is one original " You think you're free". It rocks!!

Thank you Slim and VMiller; I'm glad you liked it. Those were the days, playing rock and roll all over France in small clubs. We always had a blast. I love rock and roll!!!

You still playing otherwise, Thierry?

Because I live in the USA we don't play together often. Last time I did play with 3TL was in 2007. I was in France visiting my family and 3TL invited to do a show without rehearsing. We did pretty well. There is DVD of the show called "25 ans de bruit"
I am very excited by that 11/17 show in Blois,France. We were a tight unit, lots of fun really totally rock and roll. It was incredible to go around France during the weekends and play small clubs. We always ended up cover with sweat, laughing and ready to party after the show. @#$%& great time!!!
Rock and roll,
Mops

Yeah. Alone!!! Which isn't as fun as playing a bunch of crazy dudes like the Losers. But I play every day at home, guitar and not so much harmonica. And you Slim do you play?
Rock and roll,
Mops

Oh yeah:
"Get out of my way", "Shake your back", "You think you're free", "Wilko Blues" etc.. Those will be on the setlist. We call them affectionately "Warponies"

Thank you rolling Hansie for your kind words. It's going to be a great show we expect the room to be full! We do a cover of Chuck Berry "I will not let you Go" that isn't a wellknown song but it's a great tune. Hopefully the show will be taped and I'll show it you later.
Rock and roll,
Mops

Nice one Rollmops. Let us know when you come to London as part of your world tour. We'll get a possee together to cheer you on. Maybe do a double headliner with Dandylion Powderman's band.

Which one are you rollmops?

Edit: Nevermind, I didn't see the lineup in the original post. I take it you're the guy on the left, or stage right.

Thankx Nicos; I am also a Chef so I can profesionally appreciate that shot, although I am not (I have confess) a fan of rollmops! The salty/pickled/sweet thing on a fish bite doesn't do it for me.
It's now J7 before the show; I am fuvking excited!!

I am back from France since sunday 18th. The concert was on the 17th and it was great, I believe more than 350 persons showed up. I arrived friday16th at 5pm in Blois, France coming from Washington DC. They took me to do a radio interview then it was direction to the rehearsal studio until 11pm. We did the soundcheck next day saturday at 3pm and kick off the show late around 10:30pm. We played 23 songs (2hours). After the show I was exhausted and emotionally drawn but I had to be back on the train at 7am direction PAris to fly back to the USA. I arrived sunday in Dulles airport at 7pm.
Monday I was at work at 7am. The most rock and roll weekend of my life. I love my pals from Three Time Loser. 30 years of friendship that's what I call rock and roll!!
Rock and roll,
Mops
Here we are playing the last song "Walking on the edge"
