For the experts...do you think this ES 355 that looks like it first showed up on the '69 tour, then during recording of Exile and then lastly in Mick Taylor's hands is the same guitar? Looks like a walnut colored late 60's example.

I don't remember seeing either of them playing an ES with the Varitone knob on stage. If you look closely, the Varitone is clear on the Exile pix. What is the 4th pic from? I also thought KR was playing ES' in 68. I know he was an Epi Casino fan but I seem to recall pix of him with an ES maybe during the Beggar's sessions.

I thought that one of them had a lighter colored ES as well.

Which ES(ES') was stolen at Nellcote?

Last question.....Did Keith play an SG on stage during 69-72?

As far as I know the ES-355 used by Richards in '69, the Exile one and the one Taylor plays in '75 with jack Bruce are one and the same. It is a very dark burgundy colour.

Concerning Keith and a SG: he only ever played a SG Custom on the Nicaraguan Benefit and on the '73 Winter Tour for Midnight Rambler.

Mathijs, any guess what year it is. With that vibrato it's go to be post '64 and with that color possibly a '69. Maybe got it prior to the '69 tour new. So I guess this ended up with Taylor after he left the band and possibly still ownes it.

Most likely a late '68 or early '69. They would change the Lyre to Bigsby by mid 1969.

Looking at the TOTP '71 footage the colour more likely is a dark walnut, not burgundy.
