The official setlist whining thread
Posted by: franzk ()
Date: September 5, 2012 22:39

Hate to be the one who starts it but the sooner we get over it the better.

The hypothetical (but very probable setlist) for the upcoming shows is as follows:

1. Start Me Up
2. You Got Me Rocking
3. Let's Spend The Night Together
4. Gloom And Doom
5. Angie
6. Miss You
7. Tumbling Dice
8. Slipping Away
9. The Worst
10. Honky Tonk Women
11. It's Only Rock And Roll
12. Sympathy For The Devil
13. Paint It Black
14. Brown Sugar
15. Jumping Jack Flash
--encore--
16. You Can't Always Get What You Want
17. Satisfaction

Now 3..2..1...

whine!

Wouldn't it be great if...

..they opened up with the crashing C9 chord from a "Hard Days Night"...

..it would be funny.

Two new songs in the setlist? Naah... On 40 Licks they had four new songs and played only one live. I think they'll play only one new song this time and if this tour has more than 5 shows they'll drop it from the setlist halfway through the tour. Why would they promote new material?

I'm whining because of the lack of a setlist, lack of dates, cities, venues even tracklistings!

I want to shout but I can't hardly speak!

Re: The official setlist whining thread

No new songs... just the secure ol' tried and true, er, safe classics...

1. Start Me Up
2. You Got Me Rocking
3. Let's Spend The Night Together
4. Shattered
5. Undercover Of The Night
6. Miss You
7. Tumbling Dice
8. Before They Make Me Run
9. Happy
10. Honky Tonk Women
11. It's Only Rock And Roll
12. Sympathy For The Devil
13. Paint It Black
14. Brown Sugar
15. Jumpin' Jack Flash
--encore--
16. YCAGWYW
17. Gimme Shelter
18. Satisfaction

So now we're supposed to complain about hypothetical setlists that have not been performed yet? I just hope whoever comes up with the setlists isn't the same person who had the idea of the album cover and title.

Do you honestly think you know better than Mick Jagger?

No, but I know crap art when I see it. Mick Jagger isn't God, though you apparently disagree based on your thousands of posts.

Yep, that would be a disaster of a set list.

You mean you are not going to buy a T-Shirt with Mighty Stones (my name for the gorilla) on it?

I respect the hell out of what Mick has accomplished. I don't worship any man, except for Eastwood, of course.smiling smiley

I just don't get creating a thread encouraging people to whine about something more than they already whine about here.

There is a great book that some people here would greatly benefit from, Learned Optimism Would help a lot.

Just as long as they play 2120 S Michigan Avenue, that's all I want !!

Yeah I know, fat chance !!

Setlist whining is obsolete. The band HAS since 1994 put many different songs into the setlists and at this point have come up with just about every combination of ways to present it. Even the Stadium shows in which the band is handcuffed a bit has been tweeked as much as possible to accomodate both the fan who has seen them before and the fan who goes to multiple shows within the same tour.

All I know is that if I have purchased a ticket to a Rolling Stones concert, it is supposed to be a fun night. A night out to hear and see the Stones live instead of CD or DVD at home. That in itself should put things in prospective to both the fan and the consumer considering the Rolling Stones as a form of entertainment.

Quite right, but there is one notable exception however. They really DO need to play 2120 South Michigan Avenue, if only that Mick Jagger character would pay more attention to his INBOX and read those f***ing 20 emails I send him every day on the subject ............ he's getting very absent-minded in his old age !!

I think that Shattered and Undercover are a little too obscure. I would replace Shattered with [New Song} - this is where they alternate the two new tracks. I would then replace Undercover with Gimme Shelter.

then your warhorse setlist would be complete

Yes. And very realistic hypothetical setlists. Isn't that what it's all about?
