The Clash are the band that took the baton from the Stones. In my opinion London Calling stands proudly next to Exile as an album of outstanding merit. Shame they didn't run with the baton for very long but that's rock'n'roll for you.
They were up there with The Stones, The Who, Led Zeppelin and Sex Pistols as the most exciting band I ever saw.
Joe Strummer had a down to earth quality that made him a true leader and spokesman for a generation. He is very sorely missed and since he died there has been no one to replace him.

I grow up with The Clash, Joe was my teacher! Love all the albums. RIP Joe.
I remember the day Joe died, my friens call me up and told the news, i was really shocked!
