I think thats an Ipad or some other tablet computer. A lot of musicans started using them lately and special stands are available. And yes, probably used as teleprompter here.

To be a bit cynical: Why use accomplished musicians for a simple job like this. I mean anyone, even you, can replace Blondie as a background singer.
