Gazza already told me (us) so. The Olympics is a no show for The Stones or any member of the group.

What about as athletes? Surely they would be allowed to compete with the best in the world?

Mick - 100 M dash ; long distance
Keith - Discus (practice from swinging the guitar at that guy)
Charlie - Shot put (pure strength, which he has)
Ron - High Jump (long legs)

of course, all 4 in the 4x100 relay

From [www.monstersandcritics.com]

Ronnie Wood claims The Rolling Stones have been asked to play at the opening ceremony of the London Olympics.

Despite the legendary rockers insisting last week they wouldn't be performing at the gig in July, Ronnie says they are being considered along with his other group, The Faces.

He said: 'Yeah, we've been asked. We were asked to open it with the Stones and close it with The Faces. I would be the first bi-athlete musician.

'It would be fantastic. The Olympics coming to London is a once-in-a-lifetime thing and it would be too good an opportunity to miss.'

However, the guitarist isn't sure if he has the time to do it, saying: 'I'm busy with The Faces getting inducted into the Hall Of Fame in April and art shows.'

Last week, a spokesperson for the band - also made of Sir Mick Jagger, Keith Richards and Charlie Watts - said: 'The Rolling Stones wish to point out that they are not performing at any concerts tied to the 2012 Olympic Games.'

Oscar-winning director Danny Boyle will direct the launch ceremony and Sir Paul McCartney may take part, along with Adele and Blur.

looks like they lifted the above quotes from this article: [www.thesun.co.uk]

interesting this article includes the comments:

Ronnie said: "We've got more meetings, everyone wants to do it".

"I've been asked to do the opening ceremony with the Stones and close the games with The Faces.

Ronnie Wood is a true comedian. Open with the Stones, close with the Faces. My idea for the Olympics is: Let the show end with "Ronnie Wood's famous band" (Charlie Watts) performing a rocking version of Fancy Pants!

Now this must be a joke - too good to be true: RONNIE TOO BUSY FOR STONES ACTIVITIES?

Listen, Ronnie: Don't ever seriously overestimate your role in the Stones. If you have no time and the others want to do it, YOU'RE OUT! Simple as that.
