Friends of mine are going to be in Manhattan until Wednesday. Is there someone in the forum who could recommend a couple of good vinyl record stores in Manhattan? Thank you!

There is a great LP store in the Village but I do not recall the name or street. They sell vintage turntables and audio components as well.

Greetings from the Jersey Shore.

There was another one in the Village. It used to be called It's Only Rock'n'Roll. It was on the second floor. I think they changed their name to Revolver Records. But if you are near the Menlo Park Mall in New Jersey, 5 mins over the Outerbridge, try a great vinyl store called Vintage Vinyl. They have a huge vinyl collection of new and old (used) records. Call for directions. Their number is: 732-225-7717.

Good Luck Hunting.

Rob

Greenwich Village has a lot of record places. If it warms up tomorrow or Monday, you should make it a day walking around there. Plenty of places to eat and i'm sure there will some other interests to you and your friends.

Bleecker Records on Bleecker St. is my favorite. Lots of bootlegs and rare records.

Here's a source for you/your friends:

shops in Manhattan

If you're near Times Square, you absolutely have to visit "The Colony" - it's a Manhattan institution, but be wary of their prices and their sometimes rude staff ...

I was there around 25 years ago the first time ...

Edited, because the link was missing, sorry

I have a somewhat related question and hope it's not too weird. I'll be in Manhattan soon and also plan to spend the day record shopping. It's quite likely that I'll wind up with a big armload of records. But I'm going to MSG that evening and they sure as hell won't let me carry in a big package. I won't have a hotel room and I will be catching a late night train. I don't think the Penn Station luggage check room stays open very late. I saw a few other nearby storage options on the internet but they look kind of iffy. Any recommendations for stashing packages for the evening? Thanks.
