We all remember this classic meeting

I asked Lou about it Friday - his semi-hazy memory -

"Mick was totally in charge... like a king... but that night I got a weird vibe from Jeff Beck"

and here's a photo from friday's meeting

We were drivin through West Texas
The land of beef and pork
Where they tend the hides of leather
We wear back in New York
In a pasture, along a roadside
Behind a brokedown shack
On a dusky side of evening
We saw a figure dressed in black

And we don't mean to sound like we're trippin
But we swear to God
We saw Lou Reed cow tippin
Cow tippin

Hey Lou, "Is that you?"
She said as we pulled to the shoulder
He just said, "Go screw."
And then he turned and tipped one over
Under a spitshine Western sky
The color of blue varnish
Hey it's like Fellini
Actually I'm thinkin more like Jim Jarmusch

And we can't say how much we've been sippin
But we swear to God
We saw Lou Reed cow tippin
Cow tippin

I got cops on the cell
I said I got a little story to tell
Lou Reed is in the cow pen
They said, Oh no! Not again!

And we hope our perceptions isn't slippin
But we swear to God
We saw Lou Reed cow tippin
Cow tippin

Cow tippin
Cow tippin
Cow tippin
You really think that was Lou Reed?
Cow tippin
I'm sure it was, he was wearing black Levis
Cow tippin
I thought he was a vegetarian
Cow tippin
He's just tippin them over, he wasn't eating them
Cow tippin
Oh
Cow tippin

I've read of an instance where Lou Reed punched Bowie for not paying their bar tab; and of another instance where Reed was throttling and slapping Bowie, and people came up to help Bowie, and he just told them, "Stay out of this." Odd couple.

Indeed it has SCL,but hopefully in a few days cooler heads will prevail...what l don't get is that those that started this whole mess, get a free pass from BV.

Yeah, hb, that'd be super swell. In between waiting for Stones downloads, I'm currently going back and listening to some of those Lou records I turned my nose up to at one time or another, as well as collecting a lot of bootlegs that people are circling like crazy right now. I found a slim, but interesting bio on Lou from the 80's a cpl of weeks ago too at an out of print bookstore which has some cool interviews.

In 2008, I saw Lou give one of the best concerts I've ever seen at the Ryman in Nashville. He played every song he'd circulated in and out of the setlist from that tour that night only - you could tell he really enjoyed the venue and the crowd (not the usual group of buffoons - very attentive and receptive).
