I was able to find these, there are many other such attempts. I think everyone of my generation knows the Soul Asylum album by heart.

It's awfully witty when someone takes off of a famous album cover.

... there is a song by KD Lang that I heard once, and I have been wanting to find it but don't know the title, or even the exact words. But in the song she is asking herself this question. And she calls herself 'Kathryn'. Like "da da da da, Kathryn?' or "What is the deal, Kathryn?"

It's "The Mind of Love" from Lang's '92 release, "Ingenue".
Fun LP. "Drag" 's good, too.
