Mick with will.i.am and J.Lo -- embarrassing new single

Come on Mick, how desperate are you to stay "relevant"...?

Mick's part starts around 3:30.

Article about it in New York Magazine:
[nymag.com]

"Mick Jagger Continues to Hang Out With will.i.am

At this point, we are all more or less accustomed to the unexpected company that Mick Jagger keeps (see: Joss Stone, Damian Marley, and Maroon 5, all in the last six months), but after the relative dud that was "T.H.E. (The Hardest Ever)," his collaboration with will.i.am and Jennifer Lopez, one assumed that he might quietly back away from this particular friendship. Mick's absence at the AMAs — where will.i.am and Lopez performed "T.H.E." — seemed to confirm this theory (or at least the theory that Mick Jagger still has cooler places to be), but now here he is dancing around the tie-dyed sky in the video. On the bright side, "T.H.E." features a dozen sparkling Micks, all of them singing about Math. On the not-so-bright side, you have to sit through three minutes of will.i.am dodging exploding trucks and Fembot J.Lo trapped inside movie posters to watch him. But if Laser Mick Jagger sounds like something you need to see before you die, then by all means, don't let us keep you."

This track is idiotic.Mick Jagger and JLo could do something together, but not with those fart like samples which dominate the "song".

I'd buy it, if only there was a cd or maybe nice 12 inch vinyl

Well, if you hear this being played loud in a club it actually is a quite a nice groove.

Jagger's voice isn't aging nicely though..it's Dirty Work style barking, but then totally over the top nasal.

I actually hated this song when I heard it last month...and although I'd never buy it, I think the video actually helped sell it, at least for me.

Good to see Mick getting his voice in shape before the Stones 50th tour. I agree that the song/ video could do with out the fart noises.

Say what you want about the awful song, but Mick's vocal is awesome! Makes it almost worth it to sit through the first 3 minutes. Almost.

First version was better. Why did they have to add some kind of echo effect on Mick's voice?

The best thing to do is to not give it any attention. It's beyond bad. So leave it alone!

you may see it this way....when Mick appears on the video you realise at once that both the boy and the girl as artist are far away of him in terms of....anything

from now on i'm nat.lant.a - just staying relevant.

not a big fan of the song, but J.Lo is definitely the right catsuit-wearer in this crew.

I'm sure there are more non-Stones fans who will like this song than Stones fans who don't. That's who this song is directed towards (ie. not people on this message board). And that's why Mick is on the recording. He's an artist. Successful ones think outside of the box.

From a yahoo review:

[music.yahoo.com]

The legendary Rolling Stones singer Mick Jagger, who appears in the third verse of the song and video, following J. Lo, gets lost in the mix. Jagger, the subject of Maroon 5's "Moves Like Jagger," lives up this his reputation, but here J. Lo is simply too tough an act to follow.

Mick is a nice surprise at the end of the song...great vocal delivery...that's all the matters.

I can't really say anything of the musical value of the track, since it is not my cup of tea, but I know there is an audience or a function for that kind of stuff. So is it better or worse in a club circumstances, I don't know. But it is funny to hear Jagger's voice there in that context. Of course, knowing the guy and his open-mindness in music, that does not surprise, but hey I like it! The chick has a nice bumb, anyway.

Mick's performance? I get the same impression as with "Miracle Worker" - Jagger's try to use his 30 secs or so in a spotlight by including as many of his manouvres as he can and by strongly over-playing them. The voice doesn't naturally give him the vehicle though. But I know, for a 69 yaers old blah blah blah ...
