Well, I like some beatles stuff. Revolver and Peppers were great!. My fav. are sure the Rolling Stones!. "Aftermath"--thats my Fav. I reallly like their old Records.
Their FIRST Album was great. No.2 I really like..Where of all the good times gone? By the way--Stones are the greatest live.-Band, I ever seen. last time in hannover 19. July-2006. Hope, they come on on stage again.

I would say 1965/66 till 1972 for the Stones. After that the albums are good, but everything in that 6 to 7 year period are classic and their golden era, no question. The Beatles had either an equal or longer period than the Stones of classic album. They're both fantastic, but I think the Beatles were definitely more consistent and successful almost through their whole career while it took the Stones alittle while and then eventually they sank just below the "classic" level.

Stones classic level have to be:

from 'The Newest Hit Makers' till 'Between the buttons' in a row...Beggars was a 'Come-back' album and 'Sticky' >>>> is albums with new members in the band....

Just try to imagine The Beatles without someone of the fab four doin albums after 1970... it would probably had been McCartney left-out...Then we could have had The Beatles with Ronnie Lane in it...That would/could/should (Phew this tricky language) have been something...
