a san antone distillery - rebecca creek - has just issued its first batch of whiskey. barley-based, but has a bourbon-y element to it. i find that it pairs well with delta blooze and swing-era jazz.

Even better at a concert.

you have two choices:

1) be sober and have to put up with idiotic, unruly drunkards all around you

2) be an idiotic, unruly drunkard that the sober around you have to put up with

not hard to figure out which option to pick....

you don't necessarily have to get completely shitfaced at a concert. a nice buzz will get you through it smiling smiley

I saw U2 last summer at Spartan Stadium on the campus of Michigan State University. I arrived sober, thinking I would have a few of those $9.00 cups of beer they like to sell at the concert, and, once inside the stadium, was panic-stricken to discover that they were not selling any alcoholic refreshments! Apparently, there had been some sports-related "riots" on campus that were blamed on alcohol, so they banned all alcohol on campus. It was still a very enjoyable show, but it would have been so much better with a few beers.

Yes, seeing U2 completely straight would have been a bit problematic

Well, it wasn't like the old joke about the Grateful Dead fan who hears them straight and then asks "What is that horrible music?" The music was fine. It just would have been better with a little beer buzz, and, of course, the light show was just meant to be seen through beer goggles, or maybe even something a little stronger.

In the 1970's when there wasn't much public awareness about drinkng and drinking when me and me mates were young and foolish quite often we use to cruise around in our V8's boozed listening to The Stones..those car speakers were turned up as loud as they could possibly go.Some of us lost our license a few times for drinking and driving.Thats the one time when The Stones music and alcohol don't mix..if only we knew then what we know now

Yes, a little buzz certainly helps the experience. Hence the motto Sex, Drugs and Rock And Roll. Just the sex is left out in this case, but not always, ha-ha.
