I would not say better, but I do enjoy the live "Waiting on a Friend" from the '81 tour.

Beast of Burden (81/82 the rough versions, but also the 94/95 smooth versions, not so much the 01/02 and 05-07 versions, somewhat lame)

Midnight Rambler

Love in Vain

When the Whip Comes Down

Out of Control

You Gotta Move

You Can't Always Get What You Want (72/73 and 75/76 and 89/90, not so much the 05-07 versions, cause Ronnie's solos were incredibly bad)

Gimme Shelter (72/73, and particularly 89/90, the best versions in my opinion, great Ronnie solos)

Faraway Eyes

Sympathy For The Devil, especially the versions from "Love You Live" and the Atlantic City concert in 1989

Yes, I've forgotten "Sympathy", yes, and I like the "Love You Live"-version the most, too. Great interweaving of Keith and Ronnie, and the evil character of the matter appears in the handling of the guitars, a perfect interpretation in my opinion.

Not exactly better than the original, but I really liked this version. Haven't seen it before:

Most of them, though definitely not JJF (why don't they ever do the full intro live?).

They did once. Toronto 1997, wasn't it?

Angie, Midnite Rambler and Jumpin' Jack Flash.

Let Me Go is the ONLY tune I prefer the studio version. it's sleazy and cool, the live version is horrible IMHO.

Streets Of Love.
Hated it when it came out. Felt embarrassed for being a Stones fan.
When I heard it live, I totally loved it. Wonderfully played live.

Yes, in fact, a great studio track, but the live versions 81/82 are somewhat sloppy and out of form, rather lame, no rhythm, too fast etc.

Also Jimmy Rip did when backing Jagger in '88, but later versions tend to sound rushed & lack feeling. If the R&R Circus or YaYas versions had the full intro they'd be perfect.

oh my, so many live versions give you that raw Stones power that is what captivated at the beginning of their career. There are so many I prefer over the studio...some favs

If You Can't Rock Me/Get Off of My Cloud. My god the song hit me hard the first time I cranked it out. The raw funk blues of the entire workout, especially the rhythm section during the segue into Get Off My Cloud. And Billy just punches it on the key board and backing vocals. Electrifying.

Sympathy for the Devil, Get Yer Ya Ya's Out. The definitive version. The definitive weaving of leads from Mick and Keith... Spine tingling and so electric. Hands down from the studio version.

Just My Imagination from Detroit '78. THe guitars are glorious on this. Status Quo? Na! Punk soul blues fusion. SLashing, gnashing, raucous verging on being out of control. But locked in again by Charlie's drums. The song demands shaking of the ass.

When the Whip Comes Down- ANother anthem of debauchery. Keith and ROnnie are locked in tight in a decadent dance of the devils. Glorious.

Midnight Rambler- Welcome to New York, Get Yer Leeds Lungs Out, Get Yer Ya Ya's Out, Brussels Affair, Order in the Court, Stones in the Park, Touring Party 1972 Disc 1, 2, 3, HBo Rehersals....pretty much in that order. Hell, who am I kidding? Just about every live version I have heard I love.

Satisfaction from Gimme Shelter. I love the extra footage with Janis in the background dancing and leering at mick's cock. Classic! Taylor sinews through the song like a ranch snake. And Keith's chugging rhythm is perfectly locked in with Bill and Charlie. I love this on Blue Ray cranked on 5.1. Still drops out a bit in sound though...always has to be some flaws in a Stones live performance for it to really capture the authentic Stones experience.

Dancing With Mr. D off Brussels Affair is heroin swamp evil. And one of Taylor's most searing solos that lifts the song to whole other dimension that was more subdued on the studio track.

Miss You Handsome Girls...Epic funk. Their modern Midnight Rambler with the Curtis Mayfield groove. Not DISCO! NO! FUNK. Nine minutes and twenty nine seconds of epic raunch and the oft bragged about weaving.

Ok, I have to rest my mind and listen to some more live stones to inspire for pt. IV

One of my favourite live performances ever is Get Off Of My Cloud from Paris '66 (go to 13:05, & check out Mick's "Hang On Sloopy" during the intro!)...
