First time it was played live...

When was Let It Bleed first performed live in concert? Is there a bootleg of it?

Rather than scraping the bottom of the barrel for topics how about we start a 'first time it was played awesome bootleg you never heard and have been wanting to hear' thread..?

Sir Morgan's Cove, Worcester, MA 14/9/81.

No tape of the show - even the setlist is open to debate - but 'Let It Bleed' WAS debuted that night.

What about Jumping Jack Flash ?

According to Stanley Booth's True Adventures..., Brian played with the Stones for the last time on May 12, 1969 at the NME Pollwinner's show in Wembley Stadium.
They played JJF & Satisfaction.

Was this the first time for JJF and was this the only time Brian played JJF in front of an audience?
Does a video exist of this performance?

Wasn't the first time JJF was played live in the "Rock And Roll Circus" in 1968? Brian played in that.

Where was this? Wikipedia has the RnR Circus date pegged at 12-11-1968.

I'd like to know when/where was the first performance of JJF outside of a studio setting.

Edith Grove honey, Vocalion's giving you the correct date of the NME gig:
may 12th 1968, not 1969.
the Rock & Roll Circus was indeed december 10th-11th 1968.

Ok, I still get confused sometimes with the month/day & day/month thing. grinning smiley

So would the NME gig be the first live performance of JJF outside of a studio setting?

yep ... and sorry i missed your other question:
if there are any extant audio or video recordings of the NME show, they aren't in circulation

That's because they like to do it backwards. 12-05-1968 looks like Deccember 5th to me. Why they like to put the day before the month makes NO sense whatsoever.

>> Why they like to put the day before the month makes NO sense whatsoever <<

sure it does - going in order from the smallest of the three units to the largest makes excellent sense
what's confusing you is just that the US does it both ways

but i digress. what was the topic? oh yeah:
Before They Make Me Run debuted in the New Barbarians' fine hands at the first CNIB gig (22/4/79) -
i believe there's no recording in circulation. the Stones finally got around to it on 31/8/89, right?
and there is a bootleg of that

Flip The Switch -Charlotte '97

CYHMK -Palais pre-tour gig '02

Dance, Parachute Woman, Brand New Car- Orpheum, Boston, '02

I guess a lot of the debuts would take place at the pre-tour warmup gigs and the first show of a tour, or something special like Hyde Park. There's a database others have posted here in the past which lists most all of the setlists and which shows had song debuts.

Both CNIB shows are in circulation. The first one was bootlegged as "Place aux Dames - Shades 'n' Canes"

Think its just the Stones set though isnt it?

CYHMK was played in 1971. No tape of it in circulation, but Keith, Bill and Bobby Keys have all confirmed they tried it out at a couple of early gigs before abandoning it.

Yes sir! I am now happily married with a 7 month old baby girl! Recording studio is up and running strong and we are doing tons of HD video! Let me know if you ever plan on coming through Louisville and we'll have a beer! (Drake)

Thank you all for your comments. Seriously. And Gazza, the link to the rocksoff database is STELLAR. Granted I'm probably going into Holy Grail territory but I'm curious how many 'firsts' I could compile into a bootleg. I'm in the early stages. Will be remastering tracks if needed (not butchering, mind you)...

Congrats on the wedding and baby, Drake.

You should be able to find most of the debuts I'd guess - it indicates with an asterisk if there's no known recording.

no offence Gazza, I know I might be wrong, but I still can't damn believe in it.
Keith, Bill and Bobby confirming anything is you know...

they were brave in 1971, but enough to play CYHMK? I doubt it and have as many arguments as people who say they played it... zero...
