Thats been said a few times, but not in this context.
Didnt actually notice that. Was 'Swordfishtrombones' the first one on Island?
'Rain Dogs' and 'Heartattack and Vine' are my 2 favourite Waits albums. The late 70s - mid 80s' era is tops for me.

naming my top 5 tom waits songs is too difficult (though "train song" and
"innocent when you dream" would be on that list, for sure) so i'd rather just say how lucky i feel to have seen him in concert, considering he hardly performs live. it was a very memorable night for me,

hoist that rag (ribot's guitar solo!)
dirt in the ground
take care of all my children
sins of the father
diamonds and gold
it's a testimony to the man's greatness that I could list five songs not mentioned above
oh alright, i'll do it! for you!Quote

Not good enough Bernie. Come on, do be a wuss.

Not good enough Bernie. Come on, do be a wuss. I have trouble compiling a Waits Top 50. Always wind up with 57/58 of his songs - and that's not including the bubbling-unders.
I've seen him twice. Hammersmith Odeon 1987 and 2004. So good it hurt. Really wanted to see him in Edinburgh, but family commitments got in the way. I think Gazza went ... and rubbed it in our faces. The swine!
