I'm moving and was going though all my c.d.'s & was wondering what other music does everyone here enjoy?

Before the Stones I listened to the Doors...Love all their albums, hated Stone's film!

Jefferson Airplane & Hot Tuna. Tuna has alot of great blues songs & was at Knebworth w/ the Stones

The White Stripes really caught my attention especially when G.B.M.S was released

Huge fan of the Who! I really have to say John Entwistle is THE best bassist ever.

Cream/Blind Faith.

Johnny Cash

Led Zepplin - Although I really didn't like anything released after P.G.

The Grateful Dead

Robert Hunter - probally one of the best lyricists ever

Bob Dylan

The Black Crowes

THE VELVET UNDERGROUND! Still amazes me and am surprised by the amount of people who never heard of them

The Sex Pistols

ALL BLUES!

Beatles..but outgrew them fast, when I heard the Stones

Moby Grape/Skip Spence

Bands I could NEVER stand

Queen
Pearl Jam
CS&N
Iggy Pop

"Well my heavy throbbers itchin' just to lay a solid rhythm down"

I think I should've included the Black Keys to my absolute favorites as well... I also like the Eels, and that guy's book is brilliant. Funny, this isn't the first time I spot a Black Crowes/Eels fan connection - they are quite different, aren't they, I even I don't know why I like the both of them myself.

Why a Stones fan would like the Crowes (and the Black Keys for that matter) should be pretty obvious, but ever since I first saw Eels perform live (Pinkpop, late nineties) I loved them. Or him, since Eels is essentially one man, E. The melancholy and witty lyrics never fail to delver. Weird sounds, the always changing arrangements of famiiar songs, the hunour. I'm seeing Eels again in 2 weeks in Paradiso Amsterdam.

And yes, E's book is a great read!

By the way, it's nice to follow bands/artists who release new material frequently, like Black Crowes, the Black Keys and Eels (3 new albums in 18 monts!).

Absolutely, it just goes to show that things can still be done this way. Maybe it requires that the artist is a bit under the radar and more or less in complete control of their careers. This isn't some over indulgent ego madness either, since all three have released some of their best work during those 18 months.

MC5
Johnny Cash

The Sonics
The Detroit Cobras

and a whole lot of others.

Exactly. The big difference with the Stones and the bands we're talking about is that those are still functioning musical entities. The Stones are a more of a project that comes back to life every 5 years.

Not caring about critics and hit charts also helps.
