On which way Taylor was thanked for playing on PMS ?
Posted by: SwayStones ()
Date: November 21, 2010 17:50

I tried to have a look at the numerous threads that were opened when Plundered my Sould came out on the Exile re release but wasn't able to find an answer .

We all remember Jagger said "“I added some percussion and some vocals. Keith put guitar on one or two.”grinning smiley

At least they had the sense to bring in Mick Taylor to lay down new guitar parts .

My question is : on which way the Stones remunerated Taylor for playing ?
I am not talking about the amount of the wages but about the wages itself.
Thanks .

I am a Frenchie ,as Mick affectionately called them in the Old Grey Whistle Test in 1977 .

a cheap "Mick Taylor portrait", pencil on used newspaper, distractedly sketched by Ron Wood (!) while picnicking with Ana Araujo...between sudoku and classified doubtful masseurs' ads

I hope he was paid well. In all seriousness, I find it amazingly petty, if it's true, how much very rich musicians and songwriters like Jagger/Richards (and Lennon/McCartney) could be so incredibly tight with cash and crediting contributions of others in the band. How many tens of millions (or hundreds of millions) do you need?

I bet Keith didn't get paid to record new guitar - and it sounds like it. I wouldn't have paid him anything for that horrendous tripe he put on it - in fact, he should pay me to listen to it.

Mick Taylor probably didn't get paid to record new guitar even though Mick Jagger was actually bothered to work on something - and on the LP version it sounds like Mick Taylor wasn't paid.

The single version sounds like Mick Taylor was paid. Probably a remix of Undercover Of The Night and Rock And A Hard Place horrible disco mixes 1 through 14 on CD.

I must precise I am not interested in knowing HOW MUCH Mick Taylor was paid.

My question was more in the way of knowing if he played the guitar on PMS like a guest,a gig between friends,or a paid job.

Btw,I was a bit upset to read some comments here.
I think it's a lack of respect for a brilliant guitarist, a virtuoso who played with the Stones and participated to/in their most glorious time :-(

.

The new KR guitar on DITL has a fluffed bit right at the beginning where he hits a wrong note (an open guitar string). I can't believe they left it on and this wasn't redone.

Did Mick or Keith ever admit Taylor was even on the single?

Mick did and said the session was great, just like the old days(something along those lines).

Keith seemed unaware that it even happened, maybe he found out when it was released!? grinning smiley

Although I hate Plundered My Soul, I still think an all new Jagger/Taylor collaboration, perhaps an album and small tour!? would produce some good music.

Well the question is "on which way Taylor was thanked for playing on PMS".
My guess - on the M6! Something's telling us he likes doughnuts, right?
And there's an album by a band named THE DIRTY STRANGERS, called "W 10 to Wittering", and that was Keith's driving instructions to them when they were heading down to his place to cut some tracks. Surely - you knew. Probably even have the album.
