Does anyone know? Just curious.
I remember paying DM 6 (€ 3) in Germany in the 80s,
just before the CD came out.

I still have the Buchklub-add for "Beat Beat Beat" (which is actually a 10inch) from summer 1965 - ATS 19,- (about DM 2,70). So I wonder about Havo's 3 DM for a 7". Was it really that expensive? I bought my first singles in Austria for about 4 DM in 1973.

My brother in law often told me that he and his friends bought singles without thinkin' about the costs but when it came to a longplayer only 1 of the guys (each time someone else) bought the LP and all the others did a reel-to-reel copy because of the high price for LPs. Must have been a heavy gap between the 7 and the 12".

In Germany in the sixties as far as I remember:

Singles: DM 5,00
Lps: DM 18,00

I have some US singles that I purchased on EBAY with the original price stickers.

They vary in price, but I seem to remember generally under a buck. I distinctly recall one, Paint it Black maybe, for 77 cents.

I think I paid for my first single in Holland 1966 3,75 guilders (1.70 euro) which was a lot of money and for a LP 19,95 (approx 9 euro)

The price of a single in 1973 which was when I first bought them was 48p. Albums were just over £2, maybe around £2.20.
