I still have the Buchklub-add for "Beat Beat Beat" (which is actually a 10inch) from summer 1965 - ATS 19,- (about DM 2,70). So I wonder about Havo's 3 DM for a 7". Was it really that expensive? I bought my first singles in Austria for about 4 DM in 1973.
My brother in law often told me that he and his friends bought singles without thinkin' about the costs but when it came to a longplayer only 1 of the guys (each time someone else) bought the LP and all the others did a reel-to-reel copy because of the high price for LPs. Must have been a heavy gap between the 7 and the 12".
In Australia, LP average 2pounds 12 and 6= aud$5.25 EP ....... 15 and 6= $1.55 Single.... 8 and 6= $0.85 AUD$=US$0.89 currently I know its not Germany,UK or US but you may be interested.
