on 'Stop Breaking Down'--is that the Flying V pictured in photos from Nellcote? I sure like the sound of it whatever guitar it is.
Wasn't it one of the stolen ones? Did they get it back?
Maybe because its not so common to see them played, I just like the guitar. I know that one was from the 50's

Albert King is the only performer I've seen to play one.
I love the design of it.

I like Mick playing the flying V in the Hard Woman video.

Actually, I don't like that.

Pete Townshend used a V for a lot of songs on The Who By Numbers and some of Empty Glass.

Cool picture!! Notice how it has the standard Gibson headstock?? Did he alter it you think? Also is it true that even tho he played it left handed that it was strung as a right handed guitar?? I always heard that but didnt know..

Albert's guitar is named Lucy. Lucy was custom built by a luthier not by Gibson. Although he may have owned Gibson flying v's. I think steven segal owns one of his custom v's. Not sure if it was Lucy or not. The luthier stil has the same planks of wood that Lucy was cut from. He said in an interview that he may build furniture out of it one day! I wish could think of his name...crap! I think he lives in the NE USA.

Go Dawgs!

Can anyone verify if it was Luther Holmes in Nashville who made Lucy? Anyone else know of any other guitars he has made?

The Flying V is a guitar I see a lot of in photograph's, but is not a model I know a great deal about. How good a guitar is it, exactly? Personally, based on appearance, I'm not overly keen on them.

If you go to the London Hard Rock Café, they have a room in the basement of the shop called the Vault. They show some of their finest guitars. Including the Flying V of Jimi.
If you're kind enough, you're allowed to make a picture with one of the guitars. As a Lefty, I had to play on Jimi's Flying V for some minutes. :-)

They are good guitars... But they feel weird especially when sitting down. Gibson mass produces a bunch of rough intro level ones that suck.. (not the epi). Alot of players like them because of thier looks.
