Stones music in a Bond movie.

I think it would be cool to see the Stones write new music for a Bond movie.Or even one of them play a part..or has their music been in a Bond movie before. Two great British names The Rolling Stones and James Bond.

The new song named STONES ARE FOREVER

The Stones would be a great choice for 007. If memory serves they actually turned down the producers of "Goldeneye" when they asked the band to come up with a theme song.

I could be wrong, but I thought I remember Jagger saying something to effect of the Bond films were too old and that he was no longer interested in them... I'm paraphrasing, but that was the general idea of his statement.

With 007 being hot again in the Daniel Craig era the Stones would be wise to re-think their stance on Bond.

It's funny how both the Stones and Bond made their debut in 1962 and are still going strong.

James Kirk..With both The Rolling Stones and James Bond coming into their 50th year.It would be an excellent idea to release a new Bond movie in 2012 with The Stones music to it.Thats less than 2 years away its going to be a big year for the Britain 2012.Then theres the Olympic Games as well of course.

Someone should have asked them to write the music for The World Is Not Enough ...

This would have been a great idea 10 years ago. Perhaps the Bond producers could use one of the Exile outtakes.

I'm actually watching Goldfinger as we speak!

Wasn't looking too good, but I was feeling real well.

I love Bond and I love the Stones.

But somehow I think the two styles are totally incompatible.

Now, if they could only sober up Amy Winehouse again... that could be a treat.

They would look for an artist more in tune with the general cinema going demographic. It's unlikely to be the Stones then.

Devil May Care
Sebastian Faulks writing as Ian Fleming
page 37

'I suppose men just feel the need to prove themselves' said Bond. 'Even older men. What else?'

'Those pop singers have been arrested for having drugs.'

'The Beatles?'

'No, the ones with the hair down to their shoulders who make such a racket. The Rolling Stones, is it?'

'And what was the drug? Marijuana?'

'It's no use asking me, Mr Bond. It was drugs, that's all I know.'

Gimme Shelter would have made a great Bond song if it was re-mixed a little

Goldfinger
Ian Fleming
page 201

(Bond sneaks into Goldfinger estate)

The chimney was topped by a zinc cowl. On top of the zinc cowl was the revolving square mouth of what looked to Bond like a Decca radar scanner you see on the bridges of most ships.

Gimme Shelter is my all time favorite, but I don't agree

A Bond movie is made to entertain.

Gimme Shelter is scary. Apocalypse. It doesn't fit.

I remember that the Stones got an offer once to do the
music for a Bond movie. They turned it down at that time
so maybe it will out of the question from then on!

Been Stoned since 1964 and still am!

I really, really doubt this would happen. Nor do I think it should. In the Daneil Craig era - which is over after 2 films by the way (the whole Bond license is on another freeze), I think edgier music should be the way to go. They were on the right track with Chris Cornell, but that Jack White/Alicia Keys song was a bit of a miss. I'd rather see something from an edgy, up-and-coming band, or a scorching female vocal. I think Bono & The Edge did a good job writing Goldeney's theme, and Tina Turner's voice on it was good too. But for the next, let the superstars take a break.

To illustrate my point, here's "Gold, Guns, Girls" by fellow Canadians METRIC...
(ignore the vid, just listen to the song)

'One cameo for Scorsese to me brings so much more satisfaction than, say, a James Bond' - David Bowie

I'd prefer the Stones to stick to Scorsese, too. And Godard.

Mick solo and in a camp mood could pull it off.

The Stones were NEVER considered for Bond music, NEVER! U2 was inititally asked to do Goldeneye but they wrote the song and had Tina Turner do it.

Winehouse appeared at the Isle Of Wight 2007.

With the current situation the Stones will be dead before the next Bond is released, end of topic.
