hell of a good time with friends... it ain't what I call nothing.
I once wondered what is exactly music for? found out after reading Miles' autobiography

it's to be played live loud. it's to be listened to with a bunch of friends.
it ain't nothing winking smiley

Television had a nice song by the way, "Ain't That Nothin'".

That could be the greatest thing to happen to the band... Bill and charlies playing was as important to the stones as Jagger Richards - specially live. My respects to Daryl Jones - but the Stones without Wyman is not the Stones in my book. That Rhythm section has never been the same again.

Just responding. Means nothing in the end. In fact, that's just it - NOTHING.

Another Saturday night and skip ain't got nobody. He got some money 'cause he just got paid. Oh, how he wishes he had someone to talk to. He's in an awful way.

Real Stones never quit. By definition, Bill was never a Stone.

I feel like being harsh today.

So with this thought process one would think that Brian was even less of a Stone since he was kicked out of the band? He was the ultimate Stone.

Keith has always maintained that you only leave the Stones in a box.

Er, yeah. He may have said that for the sake of a media friendly soundbite, but its also absolutely untrue, as no one has died while still a current band member.

What about Stu ? A band member surely?

Why would Bill want back in? He seems to be content as he is. He looks healthy and happy with his young family, enjoys performing his music and looks back on his Stones history without rancour. He obviously doesn't have any money worries - clearly his metal detecting is a much cheaper hobby than Charlies equine breeding and car collecting!!

It is not going to happen of course, but IF Bill woul decide to join the Stones again for more than a guest appearence - for an album recording or a tour, the others would take him back of course. I don't know whether they would welcome him, but they would surely take him. Bill is a founding member of the Stones and the only bass player (who has ever been a member). So I simply can not imagine that he would come with such an offer and the others would say: "No thank you, we have Darryl." And it also would be good from the marketing point of view - they would be a full band again. So I am sure Bill would not be turned down, but we all hnow HE will not come with such an offer.

Other than maybe a one off guest appearance the Stones don't want Wyman (or Taylor) back in the band they both quit and the Stones have been incredibly successful touring with out them.

Musically spoken Bill and Mick are not interested either.

Just bring back Bill in
And if Bill is in why not Mick The Kleermaker join the gang
A bottle of Daniels for Keith
A few glasses of wine for Mick
Just for the difference, Leon Russell on piano
Charlie don't need anything except dis drumstick

And the horn section..........and no back up singers this time

And let the party begin......................................

Dordrecht seems the right city to play in. Mick Kleermaker will certainly be there!

In your eyes and mine, but not 'officially' since '63, which is why I said 'a current band member'. The plaudits and tributes bestowed on him by the rest of the Stones down the years doesnt alter the fact that he was a salaried employee.

Yes, and a guy who also didn't play on all the albums during his tenure. I love his piano playing, but his contributions to "Aftermath" are about one track, not much if any on "Between the Buttons", not at all on "Satanic Majesties" or "Beggars," only percussion on "Black and Blue," not at all on "Some Girls," a bit on one track on "Undercover," and nothing except his tribute on "Dirty Work." By that criteria, its hard to view him as anything but a sideman after 1965.

I would think that Mick Jagger has some sense of history and would at least consider offering both Mick Taylor and Bill Wyman some kind of role on a final tour. The 50th year of the Rolling Stones comes in 2011 with the 50th anniversary of the bands first official gig following on July 12, 2012. With that in mind it is hard to fathom the Stones not putting some kind of tour package together at least by 2012. I will be shocked if the next year or so comes and goes without some kind of news about a tour. Although it may not be realistic to expect Taylor and Wyman to tour full time it is certainly realistic to think that they could re-join the band for at least a few special guest appearances on a 50th anniversary tour.

At this point I doubt if Bill would approach the Stones, however, I would be very disappointed if the Stones (Jagger/Richards) did not contact him (and Mick Taylor) sometime in the very near future.

Anytime he wanted back in he would be in. No one grooves like Bill Wyman!
Daryl is great, however he is a funk player and can't get those grooves on JJF or even SMU.

I dont think they would let him back in because in an interview a few years back charlie said although they are still great friends bill wyman crossed the line when he left, now this doesnt mean a guest spot would never happen

I don't think so. Competent bass players are a dime a dozen.

To state the obvious, it's not about competency.

I would love to see Bill back, and I think they would have let him if he wants to. I miss his bass playing very much. He is really really good! To have Bill back would to me be the best thing that could ever happen to The Stones now. Taylor NO, Bill YES!

Check this boot [www.iorr.org] to be reminded how GOOD and elegant Bill was as player...

What blows my mind is that Daryl Jones has been in the band for 16 years now. Geez time is flying by.
