You can just hammer on between the open B chord and the "IV" chord position with the 1st fret on the B string and 2nd fret of D string during the verses. For the main riff you have to add the 9th, which is the G string, 3rd fret.

Hello all,
I am trying to play Happy on my guitar. I have the guitar tuned to open g and I put a capo on the 4th fret. I am using a slide and playing the verses with all open strings and the chorus by sliding up to the 9th fret.
I feel like I'm doing something wrong. Particulary during the verses.I feel like I should be playing something more than just open strings during the verses and at the bridge.
Can someone please help me out?
Thank you very much!

I always thought the slide solo was in open E?

ok,
So I just watched a clip from the 72 tour of Happy. For the intro of Happy, it looks like KR is playing up on the ninth fret (or 5th with capo), this doesnt sound correct to me.
I really want to nail the intro. I am capo'd on the 4th fret. What do I do from here?

Of course you can move the capo around to suit the best range of the singer. However the first chord is always 5 frets up the neck from the capo.
But isn't the third chord:
5
6
7
5
5
instead of
5
6
5
7
5
?
I'll need to check tonight.
